    • The invention relates to an electrochemical cell (1) having at least one plate element (2) which can be cooled by a cooling liquid (5), such as water, said plate element (2) having a surface (3) which can be wetted for the purpose of cooling with said cooling liquid (5). The invention further relates to a method for producing an electrochemical cell (1). In the electrochemical cell (1) the surface (3) of the plate element (2) is designed in such a way that a contact angle between the surface (3) and said cooling liquid (5) is less than 90°. In the method for producing the electrochemical cell (1) an additional method step (100) is carried out which influences the wettable surfaces (3) of plate elements (2) for cooling with cooling liquid (5) and by which a contact angle between the surface (3) and the cooling liquid (5) is decreased.
