    • Composition for piezoelectric ceramics includes a main component and a sub component. The main component is expressed with a general expression of aPb(Mg⅓Nb⅔)O3-bPb(Yb⅓Nb⅔)O3-cPbTiO3-dPbZrO3, where a+b+c+d=1, 0.01≦a≦0.07, 0.01≦b≦0.07, 0.35≦c≦0.55, and 0.4≦d≦0.6. The sub component contains 0.1 to 0.7 wt % of Mn in terms of manganese oxide, 0.01 to 0.3 wt % of Cr in terms of chromium oxide and 0.05 to 0.5 wt % of Co in terms of cobalt oxide per the weight of 1 mol of main component.

    • A steering angle detecting device employs an analog sensor and a digital sensor to detect a displacement of a component which is displaceable depending on a change in a steering angle in a steering apparatus. The steering angle detecting device includes an analog sensor for detecting a displacement of the component and producing an analog signal having a potential corresponding to the position of the component, a digital sensor for detecting the displacement of the component and producing a predetermined number of pulses corresponding to a unit change in the steering angle, a basic count determining unit for determining a basic count corresponding to the steering angle based on the analog signal produced by the analog sensor when a steering angle starts to be detected, a counter for generating and holding a count corresponding to the steering angle by adding or subtracting the number of pulses produced by the digital sensor to or from the basic count, a steering angle calculating unit for calculating a steering angle based on the count, and a correcting unit for correcting the count when the component is positioned in a position corresponding to a predetermined reference steering angle.

    • A steering system for the front and rear wheels of an automotive vehicle comprises a front wheel steering mechanism having an output shaft, a rear wheel steering mechanism having an input shaft coupled to the output shaft, an output member for steering the rear wheels, and a motion converting mechanism for converting rotation of the input shaft to movement of the output member, a vehicle speed sensor, and a control unit connected to the vehicle speed sensor for controlling operation of the motion converting mechanism dependent on the vehicle speed detected by the vehicle speed sensor. The motion converting mechanism comprises a shaft angularly movable by the input shaft, the shaft having an arm extending radially from one end thereof, a guide mounted on the output member and extending in a vertical direction transverse to an axis of the output member, a slide assembly disposed between and interconnecting the arm and the guide, and a drive device controlled by the control unit for moving the slide assembly along the guide. The drive device includes a gear mechanism connected with said slide assembly and a pair of motors coupled to the gear mechanism for driving the same, the pair of motors being driven in association with each other.
