    • A distillation column is arranged so that a liquid hole which allows liquid containing a polymerizable organic compound to flow from on a tray supporting member downward is formed in a part of the tray supporting member, for example, a support ring, so that substantial retention of the liquid on the tray supporting member is avoided. Therefore, the liquid, such as crude acrylic acid, is allowed to smoothly flow down from on surfaces of a tray and the tray supporting member, thereby causing no substantial retention of the liquid. As a result, polymerization which tends to occur when the liquid is retained on the surfaces of the tray and the tray supporting member thereby being heated is effectively prevented, and the polymerizable organic compound is efficiently purified.

    • A data processing system has a main memory unit (MMU) and an execution processing unit (EPU). The performance of the EPU is enhanced during interrupt processing by providing a basic processor status (BPS) storage and an extended processor status (EPS) storage. The status of the EPU is divided into the BPS and EPS, the BPS containing the contents of a general register that are frequently stored during interrupt processing, and the EPS containing the contents of registers infrequency stored during interrupt processing. The status of the EPU can be saved at any desired address location of the MMU designated by current and new processor status block (PSB) pointers that can be programmably altered. In addition, the address designated by the current and new PSB pointers can be set as logical or absolute addresses.

    • A pendant having a housing with a movable member connected to the housing. The movable member is capable of swinging movement for a period of time. The movement is started by the wearer compressing a movable driving arm toward a stationary projection formed in the lower part of the housing and then releasing. The driving arm is provided centrally with a spring normally biasing the driving arm away from the projection, and gear teeth at its upper end. The gear teeth mesh with a gear train terminating in a shaft having a disc and an eccentrically located projection extending toward the front of the pendant. The projection is engaged within a guide slot in the movable member which is rotatable about an axis contained in the housing. Thus, when the driving arm is compressed and released, the energy of the spring is transferred through the drive train, causing the eccentric projection to move the movable member to which it is connected, and thus imparting an animated character to the pendant.

The spin tower station, which receives a vehicle at a station entry port and simultaneously moves it translationally and rotationally to a station exit port positioned below, includes a base, two telescoping cylindrical elements extending upward from the base, a vehicle platform mounted on the upper element and normally positioned at the entry port by a spring mounted within the lower element, and a spiral flange on the upper element which engages a stationary guide notch to rotate the upper element as it descends against the force of the spring under the weight of a vehicle on the platform. After the vehicle departs the exit port, the spring forces the platform upward to await the return trip of the vehicle.
