    • PURPOSE:To prevent the generation of ripple marks and to produce an ingot having a good surface skin by providing a refractory gate which prevents the back flow of a pouring metal into the groove of a casting mold on the side opposite from the rotating direction of the mold from the pouring point of the molten metal of the mold under horizontal rotation. CONSTITUTION:This horizontal rotation type continuous casting device produces the ingot by rotating horizontally the endless grooved annular mold 1 opened in the upper part by a motor 2, tilting a ladle 9 by a motor 8 to cast the molten metal therein through a tundish 11 into the mold groove 10 having a small section and taking out continuously the ingot cooled and solidified by the cooling water supplied from a cooling water piping 12 during the rotation by an ingot drawing and straightening device 3, a cutting device 4 and a conveying table 5. The refractory gate 7 is provided in the mold groove 10 in the position within 50cm on the side opposite from the rotating direction 13 of the mold 1 from the pouring point of the molten metal in such casting device to prevent the back flow of the pouring metal. The gate 7 is adequately provided with 0.01-1mm spacing between the mold 1 side wall and base or is so provided as to contact slidingly with the base.
