    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an olefin polymerization catalyst which has excellent olefin polymerization activity and can give a polyolefin having excellent properties by including a transition metal compound (e.g. titanium compound), an organometallic compound, an organoaluminumoxy compound and a compound forming an ion pair with the transition metal compound. SOLUTION: The transition metal compound is represented by the formula (wherein M is a transition metal of group 3-11 in the periodic table, especially desirably titanium; R to R are each hydrogen, a halogen, a hydrocarbon group, an organosilyl, an amido, nitrile or the like, provided that not all of them can be hydrogen atoms; m is a number satisfying the valence of M; X is hydrogen, a halogen, a 1-20 C hydrocarbon group, an oxygenic group or the like; and when a plurality of Xs are present, they,may form a ring) and is desirably one in which the dianion of a structure derived by the removal of the metal has an energy difference of 9.00 or below, particularly 8.00 or below between the maximum occupied orbit and the minimum occupied orbit as measured by the MOPAC VERSION 6.00 Hamiltonian PM3 method.

    • It is an object of the present invention to provide a novel organometallic compound functioning usefully as a chain transfer agent and the like in polymerization reaction of a double-bond containing compound. The present invention provides an organometallic compound represented by the following general formula (1) and a production method thereof. (in the general formula (1), M is a magnesium atom, a zinc atom, an Al-R 11 group, or a Ga-R 11 group; R 1 and R 10 are each independently a hydrocarbon group having 1 to 20 carbon atoms, or R 1 and R 10 may be united with each other to form a divalent connecting group (R 101 ) having 4 or more carbon atoms and thus form a ring; R 2 to R 9 are each independently a hydrogen atom, or a hydrocarbon group having 1 to 20 carbon atoms; Q 1 and Q 3 are each independently a divalent hydrocarbon group; Q 2 is a divalent connecting group containing a linkage by a heteroatom excluding carbon; h, j, k, m, and p are each independently 0 or 1; n is an integer of 0 to 10; and r is an integer of 0 to 1000.
