    • A medicine mixing device includes a pedestal, a main rotating-base, a sub rotating-base, and a control unit. The pedestal is used to place medicine containers thereon. The main rotating-base includes a holding portion and a main rotating shaft, and rotates around the main rotating shaft. The holding portion holds a syringe for sucking a medicine at its center on its vertical plane. The main rotating shaft is orthogonal to the vertical plane. The sub rotating-base is disposed close to a part of the circumference of the main-rotating base and rotates relatively with respect to the main rotating-base. The sub rotating-base includes a fixing unit and a sub rotating shaft parallel to the main rotating shaft. The fixing unit fixes thereto one medicine container selected from the medicine containers on the pedestal. The control unit controls a medicine to be sucked out of the medicine container into the syringe.

    • A method and computer program are provided for implementing a method for cartoonish picturization by generation from three-dimensional object data. The placement of the three-dimensional object, the view point, and the position of an illumination light source are set. The direction in which the three-dimensional object exists is obtained as mask information, the colors indicating the object are obtained as color information, the distance between the object outer surfaces and the view point is object as distance information, and normal vectors of the outer surfaces are obtained as normal vector information. Based on the mask information, the distance information, and the normal vector information, main lines (61, 71, 76) are plotted (23) as two-dimensional pixels, a based on the color information and a reference value, textures (601, 602, 701, 702) differing about the region of the reference value are applied to achieve visual gradation (24), and the main lines and textures are combined to generate a two-dimensional image that is a cartoonish picturization to be displayed.

    • A three-layered prosody control description language is used to insert prosodic feature control commands in a text at the positions of characters or a character string to be added with non-verbal information. The three-layered prosody control description language is composed of: a semantic layer (S layer) having, as its prosodic feature control commands, control commands each represented by a word indicative of the meaning of non-verbal information; an interpretation layer (I layer) having, as its prosodic feature control commands, control commands which interpret the prosodic feature control commands of the S layer and specify control of prosodic parameters of speech; and a parameter layer (P layer) having prosodic parameters which are objects of control by the prosodic feature control commands of the I layer. The text is converted into a prosodic parameter string through synthesis-by-rule. The prosodic parameters corresponding to characters or character string to be corrected are corrected by the prosodic feature control commands of the I layer, and speech is synthesized from a parameter string containing the corrected prosodic parameters.

    • An optical disc clamp mechanism that is capable of selectively playing back either of a compact disc or a mini disc. The clamp mechanism includes a circular disc receiving section for contacting a reference surface of either of the compact disc or the mini disc and further includes a magnetic clamp unit for clamping the mini disc by magnetic attraction with a magnetically attractable member of the mini disc. A first conical or spherical taper cone portion for engaging the center hole of the mini disc is mounted to the disc receiving section and a second conical or spherical taper cone portion for engaging the center hole of the compact disc is mounted to the disc receiving section. The first taper cone portion is located inwardly of the second taper cone portion and protrudes from the second taper cone portion in the axial direction. The magnetic clamp unit further includes a stopper element for preventing detachment of the first and second taper cone portions from the disc receiving section. Accordingly, the optical disc clamp mechanism independently affects the centering of a mini disc and a compact disc to allow either of the discs to be centered.

    • An optical head and supporting apparatus has an optical head for irradiating a parallel beam in a direction perpendicular to a recording surface of an optical disk, an objective lens rigidly mounted on the optical head for receiving the parallel beam from the optical head, tracking drive coils for driving the optical head over the whole recording range in a first direction transverse to the recording tracks of the optical disk, focusing drive coils for driving the optical head in a second direction perpendicular to the recording surface of the optical disk, and a support mechanism made of wire-shaped elastic bodies for supporting the optical head freely movably in the first and second directions over the whole recording range in the first direction of the optical head. The support mechanism is fixedly mounted through elastic bodies on a part of a structural body independent of movement of the optical head. Seek, tracking and focusing movements of a beam spot can be achieved in such a way that the wire-shaped eleastic bodies are elastically deformed by forces developed through the tracking drive coils and focusing drive coils thereby to move the optical head two-dimensionally.
