    • A differential apparatus comprises: a differential casing; a first side gear rotatably arranged within the differential casing and connected to the first shaft; a second side gear rotatably arranged within the differential casing in parallel to the first side gear and connected to the second shaft; at least one short pinion gear housed in a bore formed in the differential casing so as to be rotated within the bore and around the first and second side gears together with the differential casing; at least one long pinion gear housed in another bore formed in the differential casing in parallel to and in mesh with the short pinion gear so as to be rotated within the bore and around the first and second side gears together with the differential casing; and a viscous coupling. The first and second side gears are geared to each other through the short and long pinion gears so as to be rotated differentially relative to each other, when the short and long pinion gears are driven by the differential casing. The differential apparatus can generate a torque sensitive differential limiting force uniform both when a torque is transmitted to the first shaft under the condition that the second shaft is being idled and when a torque is transmitted to the second shaft under the condition that the first shaft is being idled; and a speed sensitive differential limiting force generated by the viscous coupling.

    • A hub clutch device for connecting and disconnecting an axle and a wheel in a part time four-wheel drive vehicle, includes a wheel hub having a flange portion secured to the wheel, a hollow spindle secured to a vehicle body, and a roller member positioned between the wheel hub and the hollow spindle. A housing with a gear portion covers an outer side of the wheel hub and defines a first sealed chamber. A bellows with a second sealed chamber being substantially vacuum is provided with a spring member pressing the bellows in an axial direction. A sliding gear always engaging the gear portion of the housing is axially movable according to a motion of the bellows to connect the axle with the wheel in a rotational direction. A pressure producing unit is provided to move the bellows against a spring force of the spring member.

    • A power transmission apparatus having an input shaft connected, by planetary gearing, to two coaxially arranged output shafts. The planetary gearing permits differential rotation between the output shafts. A limiting device located between the output shafts to limit the differential rotation thereof. The limiting device includes a clutch member mounted on the first output shaft and alternating first and second clutch plates. The first plates are axially movable relative to and rotatably fixed to the clutch member, and the second plates are axially movable relative to and rotatably fixed to the second output shaft. An interengaging cam mechanism is carried on the clutch member and the first output shaft, and arranged such that upon relative angular movement between the clutch member and the first output shaft, the clutch member is moved axially to frictionally engage the first and second clutch plates.
