摘要： A fixing device for an image forming apparatus of the present invention includes an endless belt passed over a plurality of members for conveying a sheet in contact with a toner image carried thereon. A pressing member faces the above members with the intermediary of the belt. A first member, which is one of the plurality of members, constitutes a heating member for heating the belt. A second member, which is another one of the members, faces the pressing member with the intermediary of the belt. A third member, which is another one of the members, constitutes a stationary member facing the pressing member with the intermediary of the belt. The pressing member and first member and the pressing member and second member respectively form a first and a second nip therebetween. The toner image on the sheet is fixed by being sequentially conveyed via the first and second nips.

摘要： A belt driving apparatus includes an endless belt which is wrapped around at least a driving roller and a driven roller, a belt shift detecting member detecting a shift of the endless belt and being rotatably supported by the driven roller with at least one end of a shaft thereof, the belt shift detecting member rotating free from a rotation of the driven roller, a supporting device supporting the at least one end of shaft of driven roller and being moveable in a direction perpendicular to a direction of the shaft of the driven roller, and a conversion device converting a displacement of said at least one end of the shaft of the driven roller into a displacement in a predetermined direction perpendicular to shaft of the driven roller, when the endless belt is brought into contact with the belt shift detecting member and belt shift detecting member has a rotation torque. The conversion device includes a secured member which is mounted on a main body side of the apparatus, arranged to contact a part of the belt shift detecting member when the belt shift detecting member rotates to a predetermined angle caused by the rotation torque, and a cam converting a movement of the belt shift detecting member from rotation movement by the predetermined angle into a linear movement.

摘要： An original image comprises a printed region on which a predetermined printed matter is realized and a background region on which no printed matter is realized. The shape of a peripheral zone in the original image comprises the shape of the background region, which shape exists particularly at the peripheral region of said original image. It is determined whether or not the original image comprises the special document by detecting the peripheral zone. Further, the original image has an outer-frame region, having a predetermined shape, at the peripheral region of the original image. The determination is carried out using a result of measuring the width of the outer-frame region. Further, the width of the outer-frame region comprises a width along a direction substantially perpendicular to a direction extending along the outline of the original image.
