摘要： A label printer comprises a supporting frame having a pair of side plates facing each other. A print head and a platen roller are arranged between the side plates. Above the print head is arranged a ribbon supply device for running a transfer ribbon between the print head and the platen roller. The ribbon supply device includes a ribbon drive section, and a ribbon unit supported on a supporting member and movable between a first position wherein the unit engages the drive section and a second position wherein the unit is located outside the supporting frame. A fixing member is attached to one of the side plates and movable between a release position wherein the fixing member allows the ribbon unit to move and a fixing position wherein the fixing means engages the ribbon unit to hold it in the first position.

摘要： A liquid discharge recording head in which a nozzle plate is formed from inorganic material can be manufactured at low cost and with good through-put. In the liquid discharge recording head, a nozzle plate formed from inorganic material is stacked on a front surface of a silicon substrate including heat generating resistor members for generating energy for discharging liquid and an electric circuit for driving the heat generating resistor members. The liquid can be supplied from a liquid supply port extending through the silicon substrate to flow paths provided between the silicon substrate and the nozzle plate. Recessed portions having predetermined depths are formed in regions of the surface of the silicon substrate, where the flow paths are formed, and discharge ports are formed above the recessed portions.

摘要： In a method for producing an ink-jet recording head, a plurality of through-holes is formed in a heat storage layer formed on one surface of a silicon substrate, subsequently, heating elements are formed, and a protective layer is formed on the substrate. A passage-forming member forming discharge ports and ink passages is formed on the protective layer and an ink supply port is then formed by anisotropic etching from the other surface of the silicon substrate. In this step, since the protective layer serves as an etching stop layer, the passage-forming member is not in contact with an etchant. Subsequently, the protective layer formed in the through-holes is removed so that the ink supply port includes a filter.

摘要： In order to form a more homogenous heat generating resistive layer, the present invention provides a method of manufacturing a substrate for an ink jet recording head having a support which has an insulative layer on its surface, a pair of electrode layers disposed on the surface of the support, and a heat generating resistive layer which continuously covers the pair of electrode layers and a section between the pair of electrode layers. The method includes the step of forming an electrode layer on the support and the step of forming the pair of electrode layers by etching the electrode layer. In the step of forming the pair of electrode layers by etching the electrode layer, by etching a surface portion of the insulative layer positioned between the pair of insulative layers, a recess is formed in the surface portion of the insulative layer.
