摘要： A method and device for adding or extracting a secondary information signal to/from a runlength-limited code sequence, includes detecting a polarity of a runlength at a first predetermined position of the runlength-limited code sequence and setting a parameter reflecting the degree of freedom that is present in the runlength-limited channel code, e.g., the selection of a merging bit pattern in the CD-standard, on the basis of the detected polarity so as to obtain a predetermined polarity of a runlength at a subsequent second predetermined position of the runlength-limited code sequence. The predetermined polarity then corresponds to a binary value of the secondary information. Thus, a side-channel with a small capacity is provided, which is positioned very close to the physical channel such that the secondary information is hard to be detected from the EFM bit stream. Therefore, the side-channel can be used as a hidden channel for copy protection purposes.

摘要： Recent copy-protection schemes for digital video copy-protection rely on a pixel-watermark together with the presence of a "ticket' to implement the "copy-once' state of content. This ticket is designed to entitle the owner of a disk/tape to making one copy of digital content. We disclose a method to pass along this ticket with the video signal after content has been converted to the analog domain. This form of the ticket is called the analog ticket. The analog signal may be recorded on a legacy device that does not comply with the copy-protection scheme (e.g. ordinary VCRs). The analog ticket is designed such that it is automatically removed in these legacy devices. Next generation copies by compliant devices are made impossible. Three possible ways of embedding the ticket signal into the analog video signal are proposed.

摘要： An MPEG video stream generator, which contains several slightly different programs, each with approximately the same content. The MPEG stream is constructed in such a manner that a simple transcoder can effectively select one of the programs. This is achieved by storing the differences relative to the default program in selected user data fields. The transcoder is little more than an MPEG bitstream parser, which replaces the bits corresponding to selected set of macroblocks by the replacement data stored in the user data fields. A standard MPEG decoder without any knowledge of the embedded user data fields will simply extracted the default program. One application relates to broadcasting of a television program with or without a logo, or a commercial with or without a public warning. Another application relates to copy-protection schemes. In such a scheme, the default program contains a ticket indicating that the contents may be copied once. Upon recording, this ticket is removed and replaced by the content accommodated in the user data field.

摘要： The invention relates to a method of storing data on a rewritable data storage medium, to a corresponding storage medium, to a corresponding recording apparatus and to a corresponding playback apparatus. Copy-protective measures require that on rewritable storage media some data must be stored which shall not be modifiable or erasable by consumer end products. A practical problem is the storage of large quantities of such data in a fixed data area. Typically the capacity is limited to a few bits. Meanwhile the amount of copy protection data that needs to be stored may well exceed the storage capacity available in the read-only fixed data area. The invention therefore proposes to write the copy protection data as system data in the recordable data area (4), e.g. as part of the formatting of the medium (1). A cryptographic summary is computed and also stored in the recordable data area (32) or in the fixed data area (2) such that a cryptographic relationship between the fixed data area (2) and the system data area (3) is provided. A playback or replay apparatus will only accept a storage medium with a valid combination of copy protection data and fixed data.

A 3D source device (10) provides 3D display signal (56) for a display (13) via a high speed digital interface like HDMI. The 3D display signal comprises a sequence of frames. The sequence of frames comprises units, each unit corresponding to frames comprising video information intended to be composited and displayed as a 3D image. The 3D source device includes 3D transfer information comprising at least information about the video frames in the unit. The display detects the 3D transfer information, and generates the display control signals based in dependence on the 3D transfer information. The 3D transfer information in an additional info frame packet comprises information about the multiplexing scheme for multiplexing frames into the 3D display signal, the multiplexing scheme being selected of group of multiplexing schemes including frame alternating multiplexing, the frame alternating indicating said number of frames being sequentially arranged within said video data period.
