摘要： Toner formulations and developers containing the toner formulations are described. The toner contains at least one toner resin, at least one first charge control agent capable of providing a consistent level of charge, at least one second charge control agent capable of providing a sustained level of charge, at least one surface treatment agent, and at least one release agent and optionally at least one colorant. The toners of the present invention preferably provide a consistent level of charge of from about −10 to about −30 micro C/gm and also provide this level of charge for a sustained period of time, such as from about 2 to about 10 minutes. The toners of the present invention also provides excellent ruboff values for an image printed from the toners of the present invention. Methods of improving ruboff are described as well as methods to develop an image using the toner of the present invention.

摘要： Polymeric powders of small particle size and size distribution and of irregular morphology are prepared by a limited coalescence procedure wherein a polymer in an organic solvent is dispersed by high shear agitation in an aqueous phase containing colloidal stabilizer particles having opposite electrostatic charges. The organic solvent is evaporated and the polymer particles are recovered from the aqueous medium. The particles are of irregular shape and narrow particle size distribution and have superior electrostatic transfer properties when used as electrostatographic dry toners.

摘要： A nonconductive toner composition comprising monodisperse spherical particles includes a binder polymer, a charge control agent, and an aliphatic acid or aliphatic amide uniformly distributed in the particles and present in an amount of 2.5 to 30% by weight of the toner composition. A method of forming a toner particle composition comprises the steps of: milling an aliphatic amide or an aliphatic acid in the presence of a binder polymer and a water-immiscible organic binder solvent to form a concentrate wherein the particle size of the aliphatic amide or aliphatic acid is less than one micrometer; dissolving a binder polymer and a charge control agent in a water-immiscible organic binder solvent to form a binder solution; mixing the aliphatic amide or aliphatic acid concentrate with the binder solution to form an aliphatic amide- or aliphatic acid-binder polymer dispersion; dispersing the aliphatic amide- or aliphatic acid-binder polymer dispersion in water containing a colloidal stabilizer to form an aqueous suspension of droplets; subjecting the droplets to shearing action to reduce droplet size and form limited coalescence particles; removing the water-immiscible organic binder solvent from the limited coalescence particles to form toner particles in an aqueous medium; and drying the toner particles.

Further, the magnetic brush development station includes an applicator for applying developer material to a latent image charge pattern on the image support member to develop such latent image charge pattern. The applicator includes a sleeve located in the last mentioned portion of the housing, above the developer material sump, the sleeve having a development surface operatively associated with the image support member through the opening and configured to complementarily conform to the run of the image support member to define an extended uniform development zone. A plurality of rotatable magnets are located adjacent to the underside of the development surface of the sleeve to move developer material through the development zone.

摘要： There is provided a toner composition which comprises a binder and a colorant, wherein said binder comprises a copolymer of a vinyl aromatic monomer; a second monomer selected from the group consisting of conjugated diene monomers or acrylate monomers selected from the group consisting of alkyl acrylate monomers and alkyl methacrylate monomers; a third monomer which is a crosslinking agent; a fourth monomer which is an adhesion promoting vinyl monomer containing a hydroxyl group; and a fifth monomer which is a charge control vinyl monomer containing an amine group. In a preferred embodiment, the binder further comprises the acid form of an amino acid soap which is the salt of an alkyl sarcosine having an alkyl group which contains from about 10 to about 20 carbon atoms. In additional preferred embodiments, the toner compositions of the invention further include a charge control agent. In other preferred embodiments, the toner compositions of the invention are used with a carrier. The toner compositions show a good combination of adhesion and charge stability.

A method for making the particles is provided wherein a latex copolymer functions as a stabilizer controlling particle size of the core composition of the toner particles. The particles are particularly useful in a process for transferring a toned image comprised of such particles from a photoconductor to a receiver.
