    • A selectable width, burstable FIFO is described. A register memory stores x-bit and y-bit data. Each register of the register memory is y+1 bits wide. Y bits store x-bit and y-bit data and 1-bit tracks the data width within each register. A Burst Ready Logic means accepts an m-bit input to select a burst length from 2.sup.m possible burst lengths. Based on the m-bit input, the Burst Ready Logic outputs a signal indicating when the FIFO is burstable. The empty and full FIFO conditions are determined using a digital hysteresis. In one embodiment, the FIFO is used in an IBM-AT environment. Eight registers store 8-bit and 16-bit data. Each register is 17-bits wide so that 16-bits store 8-bit and 16-bit data. The remaining bit tracks whether the register contains 8-bit or 16-bit data. In this embodiment, the Burst Ready Logic accepts a 2-bit input to select from possible burst lengths of 1, 2, 4 or 8 bytes.

    • Embodiments disclosed herein provide systems and methods for managing metadata, including scalar, text, drop-down, type ahead, and tabular metadata related to digital assets. Restrictions may be set at the metadata field level to allow users of different user groups to view fields based on restriction classes. A metadata management tool may allow an administrator to restrict one or more metadata fields associated with a digital asset in a network with a restriction class. The restricted fields may be associated with one or more user groups in the network. Only users in the user groups associated with the restriction class can view the restricted fields, in addition to the digital asset and any unrestricted fields associated therewith. When searching tabular metadata, a ‘row oriented’ search function may retrieve only assets where the search criteria are matched by a single row.

    • In a preferred embodiment, the present invention relates to a hand-held or “gun/firearm mounted” electromagnetic transceiver acting as a pulsed RADAR (i.e., “Radio Detection and Ranging”) or LIDAR (i.e., “Light Detection and Ranging”) device that can detect the presence of one or many passive retro-reflectors attached to or worn by people or objects that are close or distant in a preferred angle of detection. In a preferred embodiment this device could be mounted on a gun and would alert the user if a retro-reflector is detected in the direction of fire. Additional sensors can be used to change the effective field of detection, to save energy or to provide multiple parallel sensors for these and other reasons.

    • An apparatus, system, and method are disclosed for resolving computing resource deadlocks. In one embodiment, the present invention includes detecting a set of deadlocked processes within a set of executing processes, cancelling a lowest priority process of the set of deadlocked processes, generating a requested resources report for the set of executing processes, and enabling a user to assign a priority level to a process. In one embodiment, resolving computing resource deadlocks will efficiently detect deadlocks by using a report already generated by the operating system detailing information about allocated resources. By analyzing the resources report to gain information regarding executing processes, deadlocks may be easily determined and remedied. Resolving computing resource deadlocks may be conducted by a utility or it may run as a service of the operating system.
