    • The invention relates to a brake booster with a panic braking function, for motor vehicles. Said brake booster comprises a booster housing (1), the inside of which is divided into a first chamber (2) and a second chamber (3) by a moveable wall; and a control housing (8) wherein a control valve (5) is located, said control valve being used to control a pneumatic pressure differential which acts upon the moveable wall, and being activated by means of a control rod. The control valve has a first sealing seat (15), a second sealing seat (16) which is configured on a valve piston (6), and an elastic valve body (10) which interacts with the two sealing seats (15, 16). Means are also provided for generating a rapid increase in the booster power provided by the brake booster when the control valve is activated quickly. The invention is characterised in that the first sealing seat (15) is arranged in such a way that it can move in relation to the control housing (8), and in that means (26) are provided for fixing the sealing seat (15) when the relative displacement between the valve piston (6) and the control housing (8) exceeds a predetermined value, said means (26) then preventing the sealing seat (15) at least from moving in the direction of activation (30). The brake booster with auxiliary braking functions is easy to produce and ensures that the braking power can be regulated in the emergency braking position.

    • The present invention relates to an assisted braking system (1) with an emergency braking function, comprising a control valve (7) which is arranged in a control housing (6) and which can be actuated by an input member (10) for adjusting the amplification pressure in a working chamber (5). The control valve comprises an atmosphere-tight seat (14) on a valve piston (13) as well as a vacuum-tight seat (17) arranged on a sliding sleeve (18) which is mounted so as to be capable of sliding displacement in the axial direction of the control housing (6). In case of emergency braking, the rapid lowering of the brake pedal (11) results in a forward displacement of the valve piston (13) connected to the input member (10) against the control housing (6) and the sliding sleeve (18), thus driving the atmosphere-tight seat (14) and actuating a coupling device (30). In order to support the sliding sleeve (18) in the brake actuation direction, said coupling device leads onto a reaction member (22) capable of resilient deformation and on which a mechanical braking force is applied, such a pneumatic amplification force. The coupling device (30) is released by withdrawing the input member (10). The sliding sleeve (18) is supported on the reaction member (22) by an element (20, 42) through which the mechanical braking force is also transmitted to the reaction member (22).

    • The invention relates to a brake actuating unit for actuating an automotive braking system of the brake-by-wire type. Said unit comprises a) a brake booster, which can be actuated according to the driver's wishes both by means of a brake pedal as well as by means of an electronic control unit, whereby means are provided for decoupling a force-transmitting connection between the brake pedal and the brake booster in the brake-by-wire operating mode; b) a master cylinder connected downstream from the brake booster; c) means for detecting the driver's wish to slow down, and; d) a pedal travel simulator, which interacts with the brake pedal and with which, in the brake-by-wire operating mode, a restoring force acting upon the brake pedal can be simulated independent of an actuation of the brake booster, and which, in the brake-by-wire operating mode, can be switched on when decoupling the force-transmitting connection between the brake pedal and the brake booster and can be switched off when the brake-by-wire operating mode is not active; whereby e) a mechanical connection between the brake booster and the brake pedal is provided and allows a transmission of the tensile force supplied by the brake booster to the brake pedal, and which is configured by two elements of an actuating rod actuating the control valve of the brake booster, which are capable of making a relative movement in relation to each other, whereby the first element is connected to the valve piston of the control valve and the second element is connected to the brake pedal in a force-transmitting manner. The aim of the invention is to eliminate the risk of injuries involved during inspection of a simulator shut-down and simultaneous maintenance work on the braking system. For this purpose, an elastic element (11) is interposed between the two elements (8, 9) and is compressed by the electronic control unit when the brake booster (1) is actuated independent of the driver's wish.
