    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for carrying out anti-pilling processing of a protein in which stable processing treatment can be carried out and a material having definite quality is obtained thereby and sufficient softness and touch feeling are imparted to a protein-based fibrous material after treatment and excellent anti-pilling properties are obtained. SOLUTION: The method for carrying out anti-pilling processing of the protein-based fibrous material comprises carrying out crosslinking reaction of the protein-based fibrous material with a crosslinking agent containing ≥1 wt.% one or more kinds of pyrimidine compounds selected from a group consisting of 2,4,6-trichloropyrimidine, 2,6-dichloropyrimidine, 2,6-dichloro-4-aminopyrimidine, 4,6-dichloropyrimidine and 2-amino-4,6-dichloropyrimidine under weakly alkaline conditions in which pH is 8.5-9.9 at the beginning of reaction start and 7.0-7.9 at the end of reaction.       SOLUTION: Positions of two sprockets 2a, 2c arranged at a pair of diagonal corners around which an endless chain 3 is wound and which forms a circumference path of quadrangular shape are fixed, and the corners to which the sprockets 2a and 2c are arranged respectively serve as throwing-in end 7 and discharge end 8. Sprockets 2b and 2d arranged to other corners are respectively coupled to the sprockets 2a and 2c through rotating arms 12a and 12b of equal length, and each of the rotating arms 12a and 12b are reversely rotated at an equal angel, to thereby increase or decrease a length of a return path returning a carrier 5 which receives thrown stockings from the discharge end 8 to the throwing-in end 7 in accordance with a throwing-in pitch at the throwing-in end 7. Accordingly, the stockings thrown in at the random pitches at the throwing-in end 7 are supplied to the discharge end 8 at the predetermined pitches.
