摘要： The present invention relates to a method of controlling luminance of a backlight based on a processed image data after receiving information of image data, in order to improve the visibility of moving picture. An inverter according to the present invention includes a first block generating a first luminance control signal with an analog value depending on the luminance control signal with a duty ratio depending on a synchronization signal. The luminance control signals generated by the respective blocks are synthesized luminance control signal. Accordingly, a liquid crystal display employing two backlight control methods can be provided. Thus, it is possible to remove the drag phenomenon of a screen and, at the same time, to improve the visibility for moving picture.

摘要： Disclosed are a power supplying apparatus and a LCD having the same that reduces manufacturing cost of a large-scale LCD module and enhances powpower efficiency by integrating an external dc power supply used in a large-scale LCD panel into a LCD panel. A first voltage converter converts an external ac voltage into a first dc voltage, and changes a voltage level of the first de voltage into a second dc voltage having a highr voltage level than that of the first de voltage. A second voltage converter converts the second dc voltage into an ac voltage, raises a voltage level of the converted ac voltage, and provides the raised ac voltage to a load. A current detector detects a current flowing through the load, and provides a current detection signal as a feedback signal to the first voltage converter so that the first voltage provide a constant direct current output voltage.

摘要： A lamp, lamp holder, and a power supply substrate that allow easy fabrication of a backlight assembly or a power supply module for a display device are presented. The lamp includes a lamp tube and an electrode that extends outside the lamp tube to form a lamp lead. The lamp holder includes a body for holding the lamp tube and a power supply member for providing voltage to the lamp lead. A power supply module includes a power supply substrate combined with a lamp holder holding the lamp. The lamp holders are fixed to fixing portions of the power supply substrate or to fixing holes of a connection plate. As the design allows easy separation of the lamp holders from the power supply substrate, building a backlight assembly or a display device is facilitated.

摘要： An apparatus of driving a light source for a display device includes a switching unit for selectively transmitting a DC input voltage, an oscillator for converting the DC input voltage into an AC voltage, and a transformer including a primary coil and a secondary coil for boosting the converted AC voltage using mutual inductance and for providing the boosted voltage for the light source. The driving apparatus further includes a current sensor for sensing a current in the oscillator or the secondary coil, and a light controller for controlling the switching unit based on the sensed current by the current sensor and a dimming control signal from an external device. Therefore, the current in the light source can be detected without a separate wire for connecting the light source and the light controller.

摘要： In a lamp and method for fabricating the same, an outer surface of the lamp tube is dipped into a conductive transparent solution for forming an electrode by a predetermined depth, and then the lamp tube is pulled out from the solution. Accordingly, an electrode having different profiles is formed on the outer surface of the tube body. Also, the outer surface of the lamp tube is dipped into the solution by an acute angle, and is pulled out from the solution. Therefore, a problem of a nonuniform brightness between lamps is not generated, and light utilization efficiency is much enhanced even when using a plurality of lamp in parallel connected to a power supply.

摘要： Disclosed is a liquid crystal display device having a lamp driving apparatus for preventing lamps from being damaged due to electric current variation among the lamps. A DC/DC converter converts an externally provided DC voltage input into a converted DC voltage signal having a predetermined voltage level. A DC/AC inverter inverts the converted DC voltage signal into an AC voltage signal to supply the inverted AC voltage signal to an input terminal of a lamp. A power controller detects electric current flowing the lamp at an output terminal of the lamp to control the level of the inverted AC voltage signal output from the DC/AC inverter and bypasses a part of electric current applied to the input terminal of the lamp when a level of the detected electric current is higher than a predetermined threshold value. Therefore, when the level of the electric current flowing through the lamp exceeds the predetermined threshold value, the power controller bypasses the part of the electric current supplied to the lamp to the ground, thereby decreasing the amount of the electric current supplied to the lamp and preventing the lamp from being damaged.

摘要： A power supply apparatus includes an inverter controller, a power transforming part and a connecting part. The power transforming part converts a direct current supplied from the inverter controller into an alternating current to output first and second polarity currents. The connecting part outputs the first and second polarity currents to first and second end portions of a load through first and second terminals, respectively and has a third terminal to receive a sensed signal in response to the first or second polarity currents so as to output the sensed signal. The first terminal is spaced apart from the second terminal by a first insulating distance, and the third terminal is spaced apart from the first or second terminals adjacent to the third terminal by a second insulating distance. Therefore, the sensed signal is independent of the output power, thereby increasing the sensing efficiency.
