    • A method of manufacturing a thin film transistor-integrated color filter for use in a liquid crystal display element including a step of manufacturing a substrate for use in liquid crystal display by arranging and forming a thin film transistor and a transparent conductive film on a transparent substrate and a step of bringing the substrate for use in the liquid crystal display into contact with an aqueous electrodeposition solution containing a colorant, supplying an electric current, thereby electrochemically changing the concentration of hydrogen ions to deposit the colorant on the transparent conductive film of the substrate for use in liquid crystal display to form a colored conductive electrodeposition film. A thin film transistor-integrated color can be formed by repeating the electrodeposition film forming steps while changing the hues for the colorant, with no requirement for the alignment between the color filter and the substrate formed with the thin film transistor, a reduced number of steps, having high resolution power and high controllability, at low cost and higher performance.

    • A method for manufacturing a color filter having a high resolution and excellent controllability, in few steps without using a photolithographic process is disclosed. The method includes: preparing a substrate produced by sequentially forming a transparent electroconductive film and a semiconductor film on a transparent substrate; preparing a water-based liquid in a vessel, the water based liquid containing a coloring material and an electrodeposition material which is chemically dissolved or precipitated/sedimented by changes in the pH; securing the substrate having the transparent electroconductive film, to which means for supplying a current or an electric field according to an image pattern is connected, such that the semiconductor thin film is dipped in the water-based liquid; disposing a counter electrode in the vessel and disposing a mask pattern on the transparent substrate and applying light to selectively precipitate an electrodeposition film, which includes electrodeposition materials, on a portion at which electromotive force was generated with light irradiation, thereby forming a monochromatic color filter. A plurality of coloring materials, which each have a different hue, can be used and the steps for forming a monochromatic color filter can be repeated for each material having a different hue to form a polychromatic color filter.

    • A printing head comprising a thin resin board, printing electrodes positioned in parallel with each other mounted thereon, projections of an electroconductive substance on the electrodes, and slits cut in the head between the projections, extending from the front edge of the resin board to a point midway between the front and rear edges of the resin board. An electrically insulating layer may be deposited on the surface of the head, leaving the projections clear. The thin elastic resin board can deform easily to comply to deformations and irregularities in the printing medium surface. The slits allow removal of foreign matter, such as dust. The slits further allow the electrode projections to contact the printing medium singly or in small groups, across the length of the printing head, rather than all at once, so that the presence of foreign matter on one electrode will not prevent any other electrode projection from making contact. Adequate reliable contact of the electrodes may be maintained to produce high print quality at a reduced stylus pressure, thereby decreasing wear and required maintenance on the printer head and extending its service life.
