A suicide layer may be formed on selective areas of a fin structure connecting one or more semiconductor devices or semiconductor device components. By providing suicided fin structures to locally interconnect semiconductor devices, the use of metal contacts and metal layers may be obviated, thereby allowing formation of smaller, less complex circuits.

摘要： A multi-layer circuit substrate and method having improved transmission line integrity and increased routing density uses a selectively applied transmission line reference plane metal layer to achieve signal path shielding and isolation, while avoiding drops in impedance due to capacitance between large diameter vias and the transmission line reference plane metal layer. The transmission line reference plane defines voids above (or below) the signal-bearing plated-through holes (PTHs) that pass through a rigid substrate core, so that the signals are not degraded by an impedance mismatch that would otherwise be caused by shunt capacitance from the top (or bottom) of the signal-bearing PTHs to the transmission line reference plane. For voltage-plane bearing PTHs, no voids are introduced, so that signal path conductors can be routed above or adjacent to the voltage-plane bearing PTHs, with the transmission line reference plane preventing shunt capacitance between the signal path conductors and the PTHs.

摘要： A CMOS structure is disclosed in which a first type FET contains a liner, which liner has oxide (20) and nitride (20') portions. The nitride portions are forming the edge segments of the liner. These nitride portions are capable of preventing oxygen from reaching the high-k dielectric gate insulator (10) of the first type FET. A second type FET device of the CMOS structure has a liner without nitride portions (21). As a result, an oxygen exposure is capable to shift the threshold voltage of the second type of FET, without affecting the threshold value of the first type FET. The disclosure also teaches methods for producing the CMOS structure in which differing type of FET devices have their threshold values set independently from one another.

摘要： Systems and methods are provided for managing power in a processing system. In one embodiment, a target system having a plurality of electronic devices is operated within a net power limit. A local controller detects power consumption for each device, and communicates the power consumption to a power management module. The power management module dynamically apportions the net power limit among the devices, and communicates the apportioned power limit for each device back to the associated local controller. Each local controller enforces the apportioned power limit to an associated device on behalf of the power management module.

摘要： Disclosed are system and method embodiments for determining the root-causes of a performance objective violation, such as an end-to-end service level objection (SLO) violation, in a large-scale system with multi-tiered applications. This determination is made using a hybrid of component-level snapshots of the state of the system during a period in which an abnormal event occurred (i.e., black box mapping) and of known events and their causes (i.e., white-box mapping). Specifically, in response to a query about a violation (e.g., why did the response time for application a1 increase from r1 to r2), a processor will access and correlate the black-box and white-box mappings to determine a short-list of probable causes for the violation.
