摘要： Surprisingly, the present inventors have discovered that expression of TAT- 049 protein in human patients is associated with cancer, and that the over-expressed protein is present in plasma membrane fractions. Thus, the present inventors have discovered that TAT-049 is associated with abnormal development and growth. In addition, TAT-049 polypeptides, TAT-049 nucleic acids, and antibodies to TAT-049 have been generated. Accordingly, the present invention provides methods of diagnosising a TAT-049 associated disease such as cancer (e.g., lung cancer) using the TAT-049 polypeptides, TAT-049 nucleic acids, and antibodies to TAT-049 of the invention. Further, the TAT-049 polypeptides, TAT-049 nucleic acids, and antibodies to TAT-049 of the invention can be used to treat a animal suffering from a TAT-049 associated disease such as cancer (e.g., lung cancer). In other embodiments, TAT-049 polypeptides and TAT-049 nucleic acids can be used as a target for the identification of anti-cancer compounds, including antibodies for use in immunotherapy and compounds that inhibit TAT-049 expression or activity.

摘要： Disclosed herein are methods for determining whether a subject possesses altered pain sensitivity an altered risk of developing acute or chronic pain, or diagnosing a tetrahydrobiopterin (BH4)-related disorder or a propensity thereto. These methods are based on the discovery of GCHl and KCNSl allelic variants that are associated with altered pain sensitivity and altered risk of developing acute or chronic pain, and the discovery that a GCHl "pain protective haplotype" is associated with decreased upregulation of BH4 synthesis in treated leukocytes.

The invention further provides methods of enhancing neurodevelopment and delaying premature pregnancy using omega-3 fatty acids. In this improved method, omega-3 fatty acids are delivered via a hydrophobic carrier, and this method of delivery reduces the time of onset of therapeutic effect. Examples of omega-3 fatty acids include eicosapentaenoic acid, docosahexaenoic acid, and α-linolenic acid.

摘要： This invention discloses a method for reducing the intracellular lipid storage material of a cell, tissue, or organ for transplantation and features solutions, methods and kits that induce the metabolic elimination of lipid storage in a cell, tissue, or organ. In one exemplary approach, the process involves contacting a cell, tissue, or organ with a perfusate solution that include catabolic hormones and amino acids, at physiological conditions, to increase lipid export and lipid oxidation. If desired, the cell, tissue, or organ of the invention may also be heat shock preconditioned. The invention can be used to prepare, recondition, or store a cell, tissue, or organ for transplantation by increasing tolerance to ischemia-reperfusion and cold-preservation related injury.
