摘要： A tundish inner nozzle/top plate assembly (1) is described that reduces alumina clogging while permitting easy removal of the assembly after a casting sequence. The assembly comprises a nozzle portion (2) and a plate portion (3), and is adapted for use in a slide gate mechanism. An interface of the nozzle (2) and plate portions (3) includes an interlock that firmly joins the portions during transportation, installation, and use. After exposure to casting temperature and opening of the slide gate mechanism, the two portions separate easily, thereby allowing removal of the used assembly and installation of a new assembly. In one embodiment, the assembly defines a pouring channel without any joint that could allow ingress of air.

摘要： A refractory roll cover is described that reduces the amount of noxious dust during the production of glass sheet. The roll cover comprises a plurality of segments, including low dusting millboard segments mechanically supported by highly rigidized compressed fiber segments. The millboard segments are adapted to contact the glass sheet. The millboard is chosen so that any dust produced has little affinity for the glass sheet or is not easily fluidized by convective currents. The highly rigidized compressed fiber has a fused surface that releases little dust. The resultant roll cover substantially eliminates dusting while providing a mechanically superior roll cover.

摘要： The present invention relates to a pour tube for casting molten metal. The pour tube is adapted to reduce turbulence and mold disturbances, thereby producing a more stable, uniform outflow. The pour tube includes an exit port with at least one tongue to provide at least two slots on either side of the tongue. The slots generate counter-rotating flows, which result in a more diffusive and more homogeneous outflow. Advantageously, such an outflow can reduce detrimental asymmetry and alumina clogging in the pour tube.

摘要： A refractory article, such as a slide gate plate, well block nozzle or the like refractory component used in casting of chemically aggressive grades of steel, comprising about 50-85 wt. % alumina, about 5-30 wt. % alumina-zirconia fused grain, about 3-10 wt. % zirconia and about 3-10 wt. % silica, plus an effective amount of binder materials to permit extrusion, pressing or the like forming process.
