The resulting composite packing material has a thickness of about 0.010 to about 0.067 inches (0.25 mm to 1.7 mm) and is substantially volume non-compressible.

The sealing layer (16) extends over the carrier layer (11) in such a way that the transfer blanket can be fastened at the clamping point of the printing press at least via the carrier layer and the sealing layer.

A fastening strip is positioned on the circumference of the cylinder body and extends axially along the cylinder. The rubber blanket packing is prevented from wandering or shifting by the fastening strip. A free end of the fastening strip is covered by the rubber blanket which is thus fastened on the cylinder body in an essentially gap-free manner.

摘要： The design, production and use of a seamed cylindrical offset printing blanket. Conventional, manufactured blanket material (42) in roll or flat form by methods well known in the art is adhered to a sleeve to economically produce a blanket. The ends (62, 64) of the flat material are joined in close proximity such that the resulting seam or gap (45), from a printing standpoint, is negligibly small. The joint is made with a resilient compound that fills the remaining seam or gap resulting in a useful sleeved blanket. In use, the joint is aligned with non-print areas on the plate cylinder or the opposing plate gap. Since the seam (45) is narrower than the plate gap, no loss of print length results from the seam.
