摘要： According to the proposed method for producing solid-porous synthetic rubber articles, a preselected portion of a molded blank of a raw V-like polymeric elastomer compound containing a blowing agent is subjected to ionizing radiation at a temperature below the decomposition temperature of the blowing agent, after which said blank is subjected to heat treatment at a temperature higher than, or equal to the decomposition temperature of the blowing agent.Despite its simplicity, the disclosed method provides for producing solid-porous rubber-like articles featuring high strength of their solid portion and excellent sealing qualities of their porous portion.

摘要： Foams of mixtures of polyolefins and styrene polymers are produced by mixing the polymers with low-boiling expanding agents in the presence of a hydrogenated styrene/butadiene block polymer or a graft polymer of styrene on a polyolefin at temperatures above the softening point of the polymer mixture and under a pressure which prevents foaming of the mixture, followed by extrusion of the foamable mixture into a zone of lower pressure. The resulting foams are resistant to organic solvents.

摘要： A method of moulding foamed synthetic resin pellets of polyolefine in a mould, wherein the synthetic resin pellets are prepared with volumne of closed cells being more than 65 % of the total volume of the total cells and having an inorganic gas in the cells at a pressure higher than 1.18 atmospheres, then filled in a mould which is not completely gas tight, and then heated to expand and tightly adhere to each other. The pressure in the mould can be lower than ordinary pressure or at a vacuum and the pressure of the resin can be at a pressure higher than ordinary pressure. The moulded product may be removed from the mould after cooling or during cooling when the inner temperature of the product is between its melting point and a temperature 50.degree.C below the melting point. The obtained product may be stored at a temperature of 30.degree. to 70.degree.C below the melting point.

摘要： Press tools for vulcanizing plastic materials comprise a pair of mold parts defining between them a mold cavity having relatively thick and thin portions. Heat insulating inserts can be disposed adjacent the relatively thin portions (FIG. 1) to retard vulcanization of the thin portions relative to the thick portions. Hot fluid can be passed adjacent the thin and thick mold portions, the fluid adjacent the thin portions being of lower enthalpy than that adjacent the thick portions (FIG. 2). Each mold part can be formed of a pair of plates, the lower plate of each pair having upwardly opening channels closed by the upper plate of the pair (FIG. 3). A self-clicking mold can be provided by two mold plates disposed in sandwich fashion between upper and lower plates that automatically lock together upon clicking by a clicking tool that coacts with the lower mold part (FIG. 4). If hot liquid is used as the mold pressure medium, it can be introduced through a lower mold part and air evacuated through an upper mold part (FIG. 5). The mold may have a series of side wall inserts of different shapes, thereby stepwise progressively to alter the volume of the mold cavity (FIG. 6).

The moldings are used as thermal and sound insulating materials and as upholstery padding.

摘要： A non-woven rug, or the like, is formed by heat sealing a covering material at spaced intervals to a plastic backing and thereafter shrinking the backing to bulk the facing fabric. The heat sealing of the facing fabric to the backing causes a partial loss of orientation in the seal area therein bringing about a bulking or crinkling of the backing. The backing is preferably of a thermoplastic material having a foaming agent incorporated therein which is foamed after the completion of the heat sealing and heat shrinking procedures. Also included in the disclosure are the features of the backing fabric independently, i.e., incorporation of a foaming agent into a plastic which is extruded and thereafter heat sealed and/or stretch oriented and shrunk prior to the activation of the foaming agent to foam the fabric.

摘要： A method of producing integral skin polyurethane foams having densities as low as 1.0 to 3.0 lbs/ft3 and surfaces which may simulate grain leather. The mold surface is first coated with a release agent, then a skin forming agent and then the foamable polyurethane reaction mixture is cast in the coated mold. Representative examples of the skin forming agents are polyester polyether and polyhydrocarbon polyols of two to 10 hydroyxls, hydroxyl containing polymers having a hydrocarbon, polyester or polyether backbone. The above skin forming agents may be applied to the mold surface by incorporation in a suitable solvent such as a low boiling liquid hydrocarbon or ketone. Polyurethane catalysts may also be added to the film forming agent solution. Another group of film forming agents which may be used are particulate materials which have the ability to absorb at least 0.5 grams of water per gram of material. Representative examples are sodium chloride, diatomaceous earth and talc.
