    • The present invention pertains to a vehicle seat with an integrated frame and restraint assembly that is particularly suited for a truck. The frame assembly includes a seat frame mounted to a slide rail pedestal anchored to the vehicle floor, and a back frame joined to the seat frame. The frame has a lightweight construction and includes a conventional recline assembly for maintaining the seat back in one of a variety of recline positions. The restraint assembly has a lap and shoulder belt that is firmly secured to the frame. The seat frame has a pair of upwardly extending struts with rearward facing angled surfaces. The back frame has a pair of forwardly extending struts with forward facing angled surfaces. The angled surfaces flushly engage each other when the seat is in an upright position. Should the recline mechanism fail during a sudden deceleration or accident, the forward rotation of the back frame will stop at its upright position.

    • A shock-absorbing safety apparatus for a vehicle, such as a truck or tanker. The apparatus includes inflatable containers attached to the exterior sides of the vehicle, a plurality of overturning sensors, a controller, and inflation sources corresponding to each inflatable container. The overturning sensors provide a signal indicating an incipient overturning condition to the controller which, upon determination that an overturn is incipient, induces the inflation sources to inflate at least those inflatable Containers disposed on the downward side of the vehicle. The overturning sensors can include pressure sensors detecting pressure between wheels of the vehicle and the road surface as well as tilt or angle sensors detecting the angular orientation of the vehicle with resect to the road. The inflation sources provide gas, which may be a fire-retardant gas. The containers preferably are made of a strong, abrasion resistant material and present a relatively high coefficient of friction.

    • An anchor for a seat belt for a seat for a mobile vehicle such as medium or heavy-duty truck, the vehicle with the seat belt anchor installed, and the process of back fitting an existing vehicle with a seat with a seat belt. The seat belt anchor may be installed in a vehicle cab either during manufacture of the vehicle or in the after market. The anchor provides the surface area required for providing the strength required by Federal Law and fits around existing components of the cab. The anchor has at minimum three sides to roughly form a `U` shape to fit around a vertical gusset and mounting surfaces or flaps or engagement to the cab structure. The critical geometry is that the anchor will fit around a vertical gusset or cab support. In the primary embodiment, the anchor has 5 sides. The three center sides generally form a `U` shape when viewed at a downward angle from the rear of the cab. The `U` will fit around a rectangular cross-sectioned vertical gusset or cab support. The anchor may be installed in conjunction with the installation of a seat into the cab of a truck following completion of the cab structure. The back floors of truck cabs generally have a horizontal sill. The sill contains a hollowed out region. The anchor is installed to the cab by drilling an access hole and mounting bolt holes through the top surface of the cab sill. Then two tapping plates are pushed into the sill hollow region through the access hole. Each tapping plate is held against the upper inner surface of the sill. The anchor bracket is then bolted to the sill and hence the cab and the tapping plates with mounting bolts through the mounting bolt holes that engage to the tapping plates.

    • A driver restraining device is located in the driver's cab of an industrial truck having a driver's seat in the cab. The restraining device includes a contact member for the driver mounted in the cab and movable between a first retracted position and a second driver restraining position to prevent substantial movement of the driver's body relative to the driver's seat upon tipping of the truck. A tripping arrangement is operatively connected to the contact member to move the contact member between the first retracted position and the second driver restraining position and a detector for detecting the tipping motion of the industrial truck is operatively connected to the tripping arrangement to actuate the tripping arrangement to move the contact member from the first retracted position to the second driver restraining position and to lock the contact member in the second driver restraining position.

    • A front end loader in the form of a skid-steer loader which includes a power operated working implement and control apparatus that has a plurality of operative positions for supplying power to the working implement and at least one neutral position where power cannot be supplied to the working implement.
