    • A nail for fixing a shoe to a hoof includes a head (20), and a shank (12) extending from the head (20) generally along a centreline (14) and terminating in a tip (13). A reaction region (24) is formed in the shank (12) adjacent the tip (13) and has a flattened profile having front and rear surfaces (25, 26) interconnected by respective edge surfaces (27, 28). In the reaction region (24) the front surface (25) is convexly curved to incline the front surface (25) relative to the centreline (14) of the shank (12) and the edge surfaces (27, 28) converge relative to each other towards the tip (13), whereby, on forcing the nail into the hoof, the reaction region (24) is adapted to produce a resultant force on the nail caused by engagement of the reaction (24) with the hoof, the resultant force being adapted to predispose the nail to bend about the rear surface (26) of the reaction region (24). Also disclosed are processes for forming a horseshoe nail.

    • An apparatus and a process for continuously producing an assembly of headed fasteners (11) of uniform length. The fasteners (10), fixed in either an equally spaced apart parallel relationship or in a contiguous parallel relationship, are produced by providing at least one strand of wire (34) in straight and untwisted form, cutting the wire into headless fasteners (110) of uniform length, transferring the headless fasteners (110) onto a guide track (24) in parallel, adjacent alignment, collating the headless fasteners (110) to form a continuous web thereof, conveying the continuous web (116) of headless fasteners (10) into a clamping block (70,71) and then forming a head (14) from one end of the fasteners to form the headed fastener (10). The apparatus for producing the headed fastener assembly (11) includes means for providing the wire (34) in straight untwisted form, means (38,39) for cutting the wire (34) into headless fasteners (110), means (123) for transferring the headless fasteners (110) onto a guide track (24) in parallel adjacent alignment, means for collating the fasteners a conveyor to convey the continuous web of headless fasteners to a head-forming means (26), and severing means (27) for selectively cutting the continuous web to produce the assemblies (11) or clips of headed fasteners (10).

    • Gegenstand der Erfindung ist eine Staucheinrichtung zum Stauchen der Enden länglicher Werkstücke wie Drahtstücke und die Verwendung einer solchen Einrichtung in einer drahtverarbeitenden Stiftpresse.
      Stand der Technik sind Staucheinrichtungen mit einem Stauchwerkzeug, das mittels eines Schlittens vor und zurück bewegbar ist, mit dem es für eine ständig gemeinsame Bewegung verbunden ist.
      Nachteil dieser Verbindung ist bei Kurzhubausführungen des Schlittens, daß auch bei zurückgezogenem Stauchwerkzeug zwischen diesem und dem zu stauchenden Werkstück zu wenig Raum für einen Werkzeugwechse l besteht, so daß vorher die Klemmwerkzeuge zum Halten des Werkstückes ausgebaut und danach wieder eingebaut werden müssen.
      Aufgabe der Erfindung ist es, dieses Aus- und Einbauen zu vermeiden und die Staucheinrichtung möglichst präzise, wartungsarm und leise arbeiten zu lassen.
      Lösung dieser Aufgabe ist es, daß das Stauchwerkzeug (54) vom Stauchschlitten (12) getrennt, in seiner Bewegungsrichtung verschieblich, separat von der Schlittenführung (34) in einer eigenen Längsführung (48/52, 58/50) gelagert ist, und daß das Stauchwerkzeug (54) kraftschlüssig an dem es beaufschlagenden Teil (42) des Stauchschlittens (12) anliegt.
      Vorteil dieser Aufgabenlösung ist die Möglichkeit, das Stauchwerkzeug samt Führung als Einheit zu entfernen, ohne die Klemmwerkzeuge ausbauen zu müssen, um Zugriff zu diesen zu bekommen.
