      SOLUTION: The lighting system 1 comprises a LED 13 and a variable color member 21. The variable color member 21 is opposed to the LED 13 and arranged movably relative to the LED 13 in the extending direction of a light axis A of light emitted by the LED 13. The variable color member 21 has a plurality of wavelength converting portions 23, 24. The wavelength converting portions 23, 24 is concentrically provided on the basis of the light axis A including a phosphor excited by the light emitted by the LED 13 to emit light, and formed so that their light emitting wavelengths are mutually different. Thus, a distance between the LED 13 and the variable color member 21 is changed to vary the color temperature of the light emitted by the LED 13.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To dim a light emitting diode like an incandescent lamp with a phase-controlled voltage.SOLUTION: An output voltage of a phase control circuit 12 is input into a DC power supply section 15 and an ignition phase detection circuit 16. The DC power supply section 15 smooths the voltage phase-controlled by the phase control section 12 to produce a constant voltage DC power supply, whose output is input into a switching circuit 17. The ignition phase detection circuit 16 detects an ignition phase of the voltage phase-controlled by the phase control circuit 12 to output it to a control arithmetic section 18, which in turn changes the output of the switching circuit 17 such that a lower light output range has a smaller light output per power variation than a higher range.
