    • The retractable leash pack of the invention is a compartmentalized pack—made of typical back pack materials such as Nylon, webbing, mesh and VELCRO®—that fits securely to a retractable dog leash. The various compartments provide for carrying dog waste, waste disposal bags, treats, keys, wallets and other items. A user of the invention can walk her dog and carry necessary items in a single pack coupled to the leash. The compartments are typically closed and/or contained by various known methods, including via zippers, buttons, snaps, mesh pouches, and pockets. In one preferred aspect, one side of the pack has another compartment that expands to allow for convenient storage of dog waste, such as collected within waste disposal bags over time.

    • An annuloplasty ring including a sheath, an arcuate stiffening element, and a tensioning member. The stiffening element is disposed within the sheath and defines discrete, first and second ends separated by a lateral spacing. The tensioning member extends between the stiffening element ends. The tensioning member is characterized as being more flexible than the stiffening element and is configured to provide a taut state in which the tensioning member is substantially non-extensible and impedes expansion of the lateral spacing. With this configuration, the stiffening element serves to remodel the valve annulus to a desired shape, while the tensioning member exhibits sufficient flexibility to allow for natural movement of the valve annulus while limiting (in the taut state) the extent of annular dilatation (e.g., overt lateral separation of the first and second ends of the stiffening member) due to in vivo forces.

    • A valve repair system, preferably including an annuloplasty prosthesis and a holder for the prosthesis. The holder includes a first component having a central opening, a circumferential surface and an outwardly extending member. The annuloplasty prosthesis is located adjacent to the circumferential surface, above the outwardly extending member. The holder further includes a second component movable upwardly relative to the first holder component and includes a rigid penetrating member extending downward from the second component into the prosthesis, holding it adjacent the circumferential surface. The holder also includes a suturing guide for assisting a physician in valve repair surgery, which may be a cuttable suture extending across the central opening along a path approximating a desired line of leaflet coaption. The cuttable suture may additionally secure the first and second components to one another. The suturing guide may also be incorporated into one-piece annuloplasty prosthesis holders or into stand-alone tools that do not carry annuloplasty prostheses.

    • The present invention is an improved apparatus for holding and maneuvering a valve during preparation and attachment to patient. The present invention is particularly useful for increased visibility of the prosthetic valve and the sewing ring to prevent suture entanglement. The present invention is used most effectively with mitral valves having commissure posts on the outflow side of the valve structure but may be used with other valve configurations. The present invention spaces the handle attachment from the valve for improved visibility of the sewing ring and the outlet end of the valve during attachment. The present invention is adapted to safely bend the commissure posts inward at the tips while preventing crashing the commissure posts into each other causing damage. The new holder prevents suture remnants left in a patient by a designed break point for the holder suture. The present invention reduces the release force needed to remove the holder and unthread the holder sutures by an improved design and method of attachment to the prosthetic valve. The improved holder provides a kink free holder suture path to reduce suture entanglement and prevent damage to the implanted valve during holder removal by reducing the release force needed to remove the holder sutures by up to 30%.
