    • An induction motor controller that may include three phase paths leading from a power input to a power output, a solid-state switching device interposed between the power input and the power output on each of the three phase paths, a voltage sensor coupled to two of the phase paths between the solid-state switching device and the power input, a current sensor on one of the phase paths, a processor communicatively coupled to the voltage sensor, the current sensor, and the solid state switching device; and a memory coupled to the processor.     • The present invention provides a method and system for servo control in an optical drive. The method includes initiating an execution of a multiplier and accumulator controller (MAC) by a processor; and automatically calculating a transfer function by the MAC based upon a sample servo data. The present invention provides a servo control system which utilizes a MAC which is directly linked to the sample servo data. When a processor commands the MAC to execute, the MAC receives the sample servo directly from an Analog-to-Digital Converter (ADC); retrieves the corresponding accumulated sample servo data from a memory; calculates the transfer function; and stores the results back into the memory. The processor then accesses the memory to retrieve the result. Because the MAC is able to calculate the transfer function with minimal intervention from the processor, significant processing resources and time are saved.

    • The present invention relates to compositions and methods for reducing cell proliferation and/or promoting cell death by inhibiting Drp1. It is based, at least in part, on the discoveries that (i) Drp1 disruption-induced mitochondrial hyperfusion is functionally linked to the cell cycle regulation apparatus, so that Drp1 inhibition results in a disruption of the cell cycle and DNA aberrancies; (ii) inhibition of both Drp1 and ATR are synthetic lethal causing increased DNA damage and apoptotic cell death; and (iii) even in resistant cell lines, Drp1 inhibitor (e.g., mdivi-1) together with a second antiproliferative agent (e.g., cisplatin or carboplatin) act synergistically to promote apoptosis. Accordingly, the present invention provides for novel anticancer strategies.

    • An optical device includes a light-transmitting medium on a base. The light-transmitting medium at least partially defines a free propagation region through which light signals travel. A reflective grating is positioned such that light signals can travel through the free propagation region and be received by the optical grating. The optical grating is configured to reflect the received light signal back into the free propagation region. The optical grating reflects the light signals such that light signals associated with different wavelengths separate as the light signals travel through the free propagation region. The portion of the light-transmitting medium that defines the free propagation region has a facet through with the light signals are transmitted. The grating includes a buffer layer between the facet and a reflecting layer that is configured to reflect the light signals received by the grating.
