    • An image forming apparatus in which a plurality of color component images of different colors, which include a reference color (e.g. black) serving as a reference and adjustment colors (e.g. cyan, magenta and yellow) to be adjusted, are formed on respective photosensitive drums and then transferred to a transfer belt. Respective positions of the color component images transferred to the transfer belt are detected by a CCD. Timing adjustment can be performed so that the difference between the detected position of each of the color component images and a prescribed position is not more than a predetermined value, based on the reference color image as the reference. In this case, the color component images are formed on the corresponding photosensitive drums with the same timing by utilizing a single polygon mirror.

    • A recording technique for performing data recording onto a hologram recording medium in accordance with information on phases by performing spatial light phase modulation as spatial light modulation corresponding to recording data, and a reproducing technique for reproducing recorded data by properly reading information on phases recorded as described above are suggested. A signal beam having a phase modulation pattern provided thereto corresponding to recording data and a reference beam having a specific phase modulation pattern provided thereto are applied to the hologram recording medium. Thus, recording data can be recorded onto the hologram recording medium in accordance with information on phases. In addition, at the time of reproduction, a reference beam and a DC beam having the entire phase whose phase difference with respect to a reference phase within the reference beam is π/2 are applied to the hologram recording medium. By providing a phase difference based on π/2 as described above, the phase of a reproduction beam obtained from the hologram recording medium in accordance with application of the reference beam and the phase of the DC beam can be set to be the same. Thus, the DC beam can be added as a component of an amplitude of “1” to the reproduction beam. By reading the reproduction beam to which the DC beam is added as described above, recorded information on phases can be correctly read, and recorded data can be reproduced in accordance with the phase information.

    • An image forming apparatus performs a single-side image formation in a way that, when delay of image formation is needed to secure time for post-process, a stacked sheet discharge control section controls a sheet carrying mechanism so that: a first sheet (for a second imaging job) to be discharged after passing a first sheet-discharging roller via a first sheet-carrying path is directed to another carrying path without being discharged, and is stood by therein; and the first sheet and a second sheet (for the second imaging job) which is carried to the first sheet-discharging roller via the first sheet-carrying path subsequently after the first sheet, are concurrently discharged overlappedly. For imaging jobs in succession, this eliminates needs for delaying image formation for the second imaging job, and for securing time for post-process for the first imaging job. Even the delay is inevitable, this reduces the delay time greatly. This improves productivity of an image forming apparatus, without reducing its performance wastefully.
