摘要： An information recording apparatus for recording information to an optical recording medium including, a disk-like substrate, a spiral or concentric-shaped groove structure along a track formed on a disk-like substrate, the groove structure being wobbled in a radial direction of the medium, the track being divided into a plurality of recording units in the track direction by at least one radial boundary line, at least two adjacent recording units in the radial direction of the medium comprise one zone, and the groove structure included in the respective recording units within one zone having substantially same number of wobbling. The information recording apparatus includes an irradiation source for irradiating a light spot on the optical recording medium, and a controller for controlling an irradiation position of an optical spot from the irradiation source.

摘要： An optical reproducing method for an optical medium including a disk-like substrate having a plurality of tracks associated with a plurality of grooves. A plurality of zones are provided with each zone including at least two tracks. Radially adjacent units of a respective zone are delimited by a pair of radial lines joined to form a central angle at an apex proximate to a center of the disk-like substrate with each unit of a respective zone being delimited by the same central angle and units of different zones being delimited by different central angles. The grooves are wobbled in the radial direction and the length is the same for the different zones. The method includes irradiating an optical spot on the optical medium, detecting a reflected beam from the optical medium, and reproducing information on the optical medium by using a signal obtained by the reflected beam.

The flat display apparatus includes a plurality of signal electrodes divided into at least three regions; a plurality of scanning electrodes intersecting to the plurality of signal electrodes; and a plurality of displaying signal supplying circuits for independently supplying display signals to the signal electrodes in each divided region. The flat display apparatus may include a display panel in which a plurality of signal electrodes and a plurality of scanning electrodes are intersected. The signal electrodes are divided into two or more regions, and a plurality of feeding portions for supplying signal to the signal electrodes are provided on a rear surface of the display panel.

摘要： A disk cartridge and a disk device for receiving the disk cartridge to enable recording and/or reproducing of information from or on a disk housed within the disk cartridge. The disk cartridge includes a disk in which information is recorded and/or reproduced, a case for housing the disk which case has opposite faces including a window in a respective face for exposing a part of the disk therethrough. A shutter is mounted with respect to the case so as to open or close a window of a respective face of the case with the shutter being movable in opposite directions with respect to the window from a position in which the window is closed to a position in which the window is open. The disk cartridge may include an openable part of the case for enabling the disk to be taken in and out of the case through the openable part thereof and a discrimination arrangement for enabling discrimination of different types of disk cartridges from one another. The disk cartridge may be arranged to enable exchange of disks of a same or different format including CD (compact disk), DVD (digital video disk) and PD (phase change disk) and the discrimination arrangement enables prevention of a disk cartridge of one different type from being erroneously inserted into a disk device receiving apparatus which is not compatible for the different type of disk cartridge.

摘要： Concerning a tilt detecting optical pickup in an optical disk playback device, a highly precise tilt error signal can be obtained by a simple structure. As a structure for achieving this, there are provided a diffraction grating, on which a grating groove pattern has been engraved, capable of adding coma aberration components to + and - primary diffracted light on an optical path between a laser diode, which becomes a playback light source, and an optical disk, and a light-receiving element capable of receiving the diffracted light. The output from a signal processing circuit capable of calculating a difference between each light receiving strength becomes a tilt error signal. By deforming the aforesaid grating groove pattern, the layout of the coma aberration components can be changed. Also, a tilt error signal can be obtained from a difference in bit error numbers in playback signals from diffracted light having coma aberration. Addition of coma aberration components to the diffracted light makes it possible to easily improve the sensitivity of a tilt error signal to the tilt angle.
