    • Loading systems for compressing and loading an implantable medical device into a device chamber of a medical device delivery system are described. The loading systems include an elongate holding chamber within which the intraluminal medical device is disposed. A plunger has one or more attached pushers adapted to axially advance the intraluminal medical device through an intermediate portion of the holding chamber that has a tapered surface, which compresses the intraluminal medical device over a dilator of a medical device delivery system that has been introduced through the distal end of the elongate holding chamber. The elongate holding chamber can be placed within an outer storage container with an appropriate seal to for storage of the intraluminal medical device within the loading system. Methods of preparing an intraluminal medical device for implantation in a patient and kits useful in such methods are also described.

    • One embodiment of the present invention provides an implantable valve prosthesis. The valve prosthesis includes a frame defining a lumen extending between a proximal frame end and a distal frame end along a longitudinal axis, and a first valve leaflet positioned within the lumen and having a distal edge attached to the frame and a proximal edge free of the frame. The first valve leaflet comprises a first and a second slit extend distally from the proximal edge and defining a free portion of the first valve leaflet between the first and second slits. The first valve leaflet is movable between a first position that allows fluid flow in a first, antegrade, direction and a second position that restricts flow in a second, retrograde direction.

    • A hemostasis cannula includes a housing having a passage therethrough sized to receive a catheter and a valve body mounted in the passage. The valve body includes an opening therethrough which forms a seal around a catheter enclosed within the cannula. In one embodiment, a ring of raised material surrounds the opening. In another embodiment, a ring of raised material surrounds the hole, and an internal ring of material lines at least a portion of the interior of the opening. The valve body is compressed within the cannula housing. When the catheter is removed, the valve body closes thus blocking air flow into the patient's blood vessel and also blocking blood flow out of the patient's blood vessel. The cannula housing also includes a side port for introducing fluids into the patient's blood vessel.
