    • PURPOSE: To obtain an irregular-section thin strip which is formed with the ruggedness of free surfaces and has arbitrary periodicity by arranging plural openings perpendicularly in the moving direction of a cooling base plate and setting the spacings between the opening array on a front side and the opening array on a rear side at specific sizes. CONSTITUTION: A nozzle 4 has the plural trapezoidal and triangular openings 2X, 2Y. Molten metal is ejected from the openings 2X, 2Y of the nozzle 4 onto the surface of the moving and cooling base plate, by which the irregular-section metallic strip is produced. The openings 2X, 2Y are so arranged that the respective adjacent openings 2X, 2Y partly overlap in the moving direction of the cooling base plate. The spacing (a) between the opening 2X array on the front side in the moving direction of the cooling base plate and the opening 2Y array on the rear side is set at >=0.8mm. The shapes of the recessed parts and projecting parts of the resulted thin strip are obscure if the spacing (a) is below 0.8m.     • PURPOSE: To precisely measure the thickness of a thin strip and produce the thin strip composed of the thickness of target by arranging a supporting roller and a tension adjusting roller by a pair at the front and back sides of a non- contact thickness measuring unit, and applying the tension on a metal and an alloy thin strip. CONSTITUTION: The thin strip 11 produced on the circumferential face of a cooling roll 10 is wound on a coiling reel 24 of a coiling device 22. A thickness measuring unit 13 is installed between the cooling roll 10 and the coiling reel 24. A supporting roller 18 and a tension adjusting roller 19 are installed respectively at the inlet side of the thickness measuring 13 and the outlet side, and in the state of applying the definite tension on the thin strip, the thickness of the thin strip 11 is measured. The supporting roller 18 and the tension adjusting roller 19 are installed at the front and back sides of the thickness measuring unit 13, because by applying a proper tension on the thin strip 11, like the vibration at the up and down direction of the thin strip 11 or the meandering, the change of pass line in up, down and right, left generating during transferring of the thin strip 11 are controlled, the thickness of the thin strip being transferred in a high speed can be measured precisely.
