    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable continuous hot rolling of different thickness of crude bars having high productivity by welding after setting the height of the contacting endmost part so that a succeeding stock becomes a specified quantity higher in the welding side than a preceding stock. SOLUTION: When the bar thickness T2 of the succeeding stock is thicker than the bar thickness T1 of the preceding stock in the shape of cut part (T2 >T1 ), the front end surface of the succeeding stock 2 is butted to the rear end surface of the preceding stock 1, the endmost part wherein both come into contact is set a difference (h) in level high in the welding side (upper side) so as to satisfy the condition that the succeeding stock is at least >=1mm, preferably (h)>=T2 -T1 >=1mm higher the preceding stock, and welding is executed. Whereby, the upper side front end part of the succeeding stock in the welding side is brought into contact with a rolling roll at first. And the crude bar joining in this order is composed. By this way, the part being non-contact part is also pressed to stick by rolling, and the breakdown in the joined part is eliminated.
