    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for estimating the particle diameter of cake in a chamber oven which can estimate the particle diameter of coke and makes coke having a large particle diameter capable of being produced by estimating the particle diameter of coke based on the minimum value of the ratio of the tensile strength to the applied tensile stress, in coked coal blend, determined with respect to a predetermined positional range and a predetermined temp. range. SOLUTION: The section in the widthwise direction of a coke oven chamber in a chamber oven is divided into a plurality of elements having a predetermined size. For each element, the ratio of the tensile strength S of the coked coal blend for coke making in the element to the tensile stress F applied to the coked coal blend for coke making in the element is determined with respect to the position of the section in the widthwise direction of the oven and a predetermined temp. range involved in the temp. rise in the coke oven chamber. Based on the minimum value (S/F) min of the above ratio determined with respect to the predetermined positional range in the section in the widthwise direction of the oven and the predetermined temp. range, the particle diameter D of coke is estimated by the following equation (wherein D represents the tensile strength of the coked coal blend; F represents the tensile stress applied to the coked coal blend; and α and β are each a constant).

    • PURPOSE:To enable measurement of a strength of coke under conditions the most similar to actual operation by measuring the strength using a sieve after a load is applied to coke within a housing box to vibrate to evaluate a powdering behavior when it drops. CONSTITUTION:A bottom wall 7 is closed, a specified amount of coke 1 to be tested is housed into a coke housing box 2 and a weight 3 is placed on the top thereof to apply a specified load to the coke 1. Then, a pair of vibration side walls 5 of the housing box 2 is vibrated with a driving mechanism 11 for a fixed time length at a specified frequency and amplitude. Thereafter, the bottom wall 7 is opened to discharge the coke 1 from the housing box 2. Then, the coke 1 discharged is sieved and a proportion thereof on the sieve is measured to determine a powdering, namely, strength thereof. With such an arrangement, when the coke falls within a blast furnace, a powdering behavior generated by a shear stress is evaluated. This enables measurement of the strength of the coke under conditions the most similar to actual operation.
