    • PURPOSE: To enhance the supply amount of oxygen for improving the efficiency of purifying waste water, by independently providing a means for circulating water to a filthy water disposal channel formed into a horizontal closed channel and an oxygen supply means for supplying oxygen to the interior of said channel.
      CONSTITUTION: Waste water having flowed through a sedimentation basin 6 into a ditch 1 is mixed with activated sludge in the ditch 1 and circulated through the ditch 1 by a water circulating means 10. In the water circulating means 10, the removal of nitrogen is performed. Thereafter, the liquid mixture is circulated through an oxygen supply means 11. At this time, the mixed sludge is aerated to accept the supply of oxygen necessary for the oxidation of BOD and nitrifying reaction. Hereon, the oxygen supply means 11 is exclusively used for the supply of oxygen, so that the sufficient amount of oxygen can be supplied. In addition, it is easy to control oxygen supply. At a part apart from the oxygen supply means 11, the amount of dissolved oxygen is reduced to form an anaerobic zone. Hence, denitrifying reaction is accelerated.

    • PURPOSE:To precipitate heavy metals with sludge and remove them from waste water by a method in which granular converter slag is added to a waste water containing heavy metals such as Hg, etc., while an acid is also added to the waste water to regulate its pH, and then the granular converter slag is again added to the waste water. CONSTITUTION:A harmful waste water containing Hg and other harmful heavy metals, e.g., smoke-washing water from incinerator for wastes, etc., is put in a pH regulating tank 8, and then granular converter slag 12a and an acid 13, e.g., hydrochloric acid, etc., are added to the waste water with stirring by a stirring blade 6a to regulate its pH to 2.0 or less. The waste water so treated is kept for approx. 10min or more and then transferred to a reactor tank 1, and the granular converter slag 12 is again added to the waste water with stirring, whereupon heavy metals such as Hg, etc., are reacted with the converter slag and precipitated in the form of sludge. The sludge-containing waste water is sent to a filter separator 2, where solids are separated from liquid to produce harmless treated water containing no Hg, etc.
