    • Modern cooktops typically have a cook surface which is formed by a glass or glass-ceramic plate (1). As an alternative to the electrically heated cooking locations, cooking locations heated by a gas burner, called burner locations (2), can be provided. The heating location is heated by a gas burner. To avoid the use of complex exhaust-gas channels when using gas radiation burners and to further utilize the heat of the exhaust gas for heating the cooking utensil as well as for avoiding the use of separate pot supports when using atmospheric gas burners, the invention provides that the burner location (2) is formed by a mesa-like protrusion (3) in the glass or glass-ceramic plate (1), below which the gas burner (4, 4a) is arranged, with the mesa-like surface (3a) formed as a pot support surface and with a surrounding flank (3b) in which the openings (5, 6) are formed.

    • The cooking apparatus includes a glass-ceramic panel (1), which has at least one cooking area; a gas burner (3) providing an open flame (3); a cooking vessel support (5) including feet (5b) and a resting surface for a cooking vessel (6) placed on the cooking vessel support (5); and a device for holding the cooking vessel support (5) mechanically fixed and centered over the gas burner (3) including a foot holding device for holding the cooking vessel support (5). The foot holding device includes foot holders (7) for the respective feet, which are preferably formed by depressed or raised regions in the glass-ceramic panel or foot holder parts attached to it. The cooking apparatus of the invention is easier to clean and more economical than prior art cooking apparatus.

    • Unit with at least one plate made of a material, which material is permeable to thermal radiation, such as glass ceramic, glass, ceramic or a similar material, as a surface for cooking, frying and/or keeping warm. The unit with at least one plate is on a frame construction with different types of adjustable heat sources distributed underneath and on the plate. Some of the heat sources are distributed under the plate in the form of radiant burners and act indirectly by radiation through the plate. Other heat sources are located above the level of the plate in the form of open atmospheric or atmospheric pressure gas burners and transmit heat directly by producing open flames. The respective heat sources correspond to the cooking, frying and/or warming positions. Whereby, the at least one height-equalizing, plate-shaped, modular top part, which top part sits on a portion of the frame on which the plate lies, can be securely fastened to the frame of the unit, and also has heat sources distributed under its plate and acting indirectly by radiation through the plate, permits all the cooking, frying and/or warming positions to lie in a plane of equal height. The plane of equal height is defined by the height of the open, atmospheric gas burners located above the level of the plate or by their corresponding pot grates. The plates form two planes parallel to one another and the height of which plates is different.
