    • PURPOSE: To enable noise at a location where the clearance between a cross-flow fan and a fan case is narrowed to be reduced by a method wherein a portion where the clearance between the fan case for a cross-flow fan and the cross-flow fan is narrowed most is made of porous sound absorbing material and an air layer is formed at a rear side of the porous sound absorbing material. CONSTITUTION: A fan case 20 for a cross-flow fan 7 is made of porous sound absorbing material, both sides of a recessed part 21 arranged at a rear surface of a part where the clearance between it and cross-flow fan 7 is narrowed most are formed to be contacted with a lower surface of an upper surface panel 3C of a casing 3 and an air layer 22 is formed by a spacing part. When the cross-flow fan 7 is rotated, noise is generated at a location where the clearance between the cross-flow fan 7 and the fan case 20 is narrowed most, although this noise is attenuated while it passes through many small holes of the porous sound absorbing material 20, the noise further enters the air layer 22 to expand and further attenuated. With such an arrangement as above, it is possible to reduce noise generated in a room.

    • PURPOSE:To permit the mounting of a suction grille without any gap by providing respective wires with a spool for winding and/or rewinding the wire, in an air-conditioner in which the suction grille is attached to and/or detached from the lower part of main body of a unit provided in a ceiling by winding a plurality of wires. CONSTITUTION:In an air-conditioning machine, installed in a ceiling by embedding into the ceiling or hanging from the ceiling, wires 22 are connected to four corners of a suction grille accommodating a filter 13 while respective wires 22 are wound around respective spools 21 pivoted by motors 20 respectively. When the filter 13 is to be washed, respective wires 22 are rewound from respective spools 21 by turning respective motors 20 reversely to lower the suction grille 11. After the washing of the suction grille 11 is finished, respective motors 20 are turned normally to wind respective wires 22 around respective spools 21 whereby the suction grille 11 is elevated and is fitted into the suction port 3 of a ceiling panel 8.

    • PURPOSE:To ensure an enough air flow rate and satisfactory blow-off air temperature even when room temperature and fresh air temperature are low by providing selector means for selecting an air flow rate level from a fan and means for determining the number of revolutions of a fan in response to detected temperature by temperature detector means within a flow rate level selected by the selector means. CONSTITUTION:An operator can select any of arbitrary air flow rate levels Lo, Me, and Hi with the aid of air flow rate level selector means 20, allowing for air circulation in a room and an operation sound and so on. An air flow rate level selected by the air flow rate level selector means 20 is inputted to fan revolution determination means 21. On the other hand, the temperature of air blown off from a heat exchanger is detected by temperature detector means 22, an output from which is also inputted to the fan revolution determination means 21. The number of revolutions of the fan 6 is determined in response to a detected value by the temperature detector means 22 within any selected flow rate level in the fan revolution determination means 21.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To restrain an increase in noise due to unevenness of air speed as well as air flow direction and unify a heat transfer rate across a whole body of a heat exchanger, by a method wherein a fan and the circular heat exchanger are arranged in a substantially rectangular cabinet while an interval between the outer periphery of the fan and the heat exchanger is unified. SOLUTION: In an indoor unit 10, the evaporator 11 of a heat exchanger is formed so as to have a circular shape and is arranged at a substantially uniform distance along the outer periphery of a turbofan 31. In this case, an angle between a fan and the turbofan 31 which constitute the evaporator 11 is constant along the circumference of the fan whereby the speed of air for the evaporator 11 can be unified across the whole of the evaporator 11. According to this method, a heat transfer rate can be improved across the whole of the evaporator 11 and the evaporator 11 can be miniaturized. The increase in noise due to the unevenness of air speed and air flow direction is restrained.
