    • PURPOSE:To control cooling capacity by a cooling roll, extending over a wide range, by increasing or decreasing a contact area of a cooling medium which is made to flow to the inside of the cooling roll, to a non-heat-insulated part formed at intervals on the inside surface of the cooling roll. CONSTITUTION:On the inside circumferential surface of a drum part 12 of a cooling roll 11 for cooling a metallic strip 1 by means of contact, plural heat insulating bodies 15 are embedded at almost equally distributed parts in the circumferential direction, and a heat-insulated part and a non-heat-insurated part are formed alternately. In said drum part 12, an adjusting roll 21 is idle-installed so as to be capable of relative rotation, and on the outside circumferential surface of its drum part 12, plural heat insulating bodies 24 are placed almost equally in the circumferential direction so that they can be opposed to said heat insulating bodies 15, and between adjacent heat insulating bodies 24, a refrigerant passage 25 is formed. Said cooling roll 11 and adjusting roll 21 are constituted so that not only a synchronizing rotation can be executed but also an asynchronous rotation can be executed, superposition of said heat insulating bodies is adjusted suitably between 0-100%, and the quantity of heat passing through to a refrigerant side from the strip 1 side of the cooling roll 11 is controlled.

    • PURPOSE:To reduce the bend, etc., of the rolled material, by changing the direction and the size of the offset given to the work roll for every chance of changing the advancing direction of the rolled material, and by stabilzing the position of the work roll chock within the roll housing. CONSTITUTION:In the four-high reversing mill 10 comprising the upper and lower work rolls 1a, 1b, and the upper and lower backup rolls 2a, 2b, the roll housings 9a, 9b, for holding the chocks 3a, 3b, of the work rolls 1a, 1b, are arranged perpendicularly to the advancing direction of the rolled material. The push blocks 5a, 5b, 6a, 6b, and the driving mechanisms 7a, 7b, 8a, 8b, are installed at the position facing to respective two end planes 11 of this housing. When the rolled material coming from the direction P changes its direction to the reverse direction Q, the driving mechanism 8a is actuated to move the roll chock 3a to the left through the push roll 6a, in order to press its end wall 13 tightly to the push block 5a set on the end face 11 of the roll housing 9a; hereby, the chock 3a is given an offset toward the run-out side of the rolled material. As for the upper work roll 1b, the similar operation is carried out.

CONSTITUTION:The titled rolling apparatus, for rolling the slab heated by the heating furnace 20, is provided with the roughing mill group consisting of the vertical roll 22, the edger 24, the rougher 26, etc.; in this rolling apparatus, on the feed-in side of the vertical roll 22, the side-pass roll forming apparatus 28, provided with a pair of pressure pads 30 for forming the plane shape of above stated slab's top and bottom ends into the tapered shape being specially related to the breadthwise rolling reduction, is installed (it also may be provided with plural pairs of pressure pads or may be the vertical type roll forming apparatus. According to this constitution, the amount of the crop to be usually generated can be reduced, and the yield is improved, and besides, the increase of the amount of the crop can be restricted even if the breadthwise rolling reduction is greatly increased.

    • PURPOSE:To restrict the increase of the amount of the crop even if the breadthways rolling reduction increases, and also, to contrive the improvement of the yield, by forming either one of forefront or tail end of the slab into a tapered shape in respect of the breadthways rolling reduction, at the titled rolling method by the vertical and horizontal rolls. CONSTITUTION:At the titled rolling method in which the slab is subjected to the edging pass in the direction of the breadth by the vertical roll and to the flat rolling pass in the direction of the thickness by the horizontal roll, the plane shape of said slab F is formed into a tapered shape in at least one of its forefront or tail end. That is, when this taper forming depth m1 in the direction of the breadth is made smaller than the taper forming length l1 in the longitudinal direction, and the breadthways rolling reduction is taken as DELTAW, these values are selected so as to satisfy the formula I; meanwhile, when the taper forming depth m2 in the direction of breadth is made larger than the taper forming length l2 in the longitudinal direction, and the breadthways rolling reduction is taken as DELTAW, these values are selected so as to satisfy the formula II; after finishing these adjustments, said rolling work is carried out. Hereby, the amount of the crop is reduced and the yield is improved.
