    • A system and method for more efficiently scheduling and implementing unscheduled automatic power save delivery service periods between a terminal and an access point. An triggering interval is set for an untrigger flag, the untrigger flag not permitting the implementation of an automatic power save delivery period. Automatic triggering is used unless a plurality of criteria are met, in which case the triggering interval is calculated based upon a plurality of variables. Untrigger flags are set for selected frames based upon the triggering interval, and unscheduled automatic power save delivery service periods are implemented for frames for which the untrigger flag is not set and for which the terminal receives an indication of additional data from a remote source such as an access point.

    • An improved system and method for enabling communication among devices in wireless networks. The present invention involves the introduction of a new terminal class, referred to herein as an accessory class, to a WLAN network. The present invention allows for direct transmissions between accessories and terminals as a part of the service period. According to the present invention, the terminal transmits a request for stream setup to an access point. The access point provides a response to the terminal, after which the terminal prepares an accessory stream setup request to be transmitted to the accessory based upon the received response. The accessory stream setup request indicates the desired operation mode of the accessory.

    • Various embodiments are disclosed relating to traffic prioritization techniques for wireless networks. In an example embodiment, different priorities may be applied to uplink traffic and downlink traffic at one or more nodes or mesh points in a wireless network, such as within a wireless meshed network, for at least some traffic. In another example embodiment, a first set of QoS parameters may be used for uplink traffic while a second set of QoS parameters may be used for downlink traffic for one or more nodes within a wireless network, for at least some traffic. According to another example embodiment, local or intra-cell traffic may be prioritized differently than inter-cell traffic for a mesh point within a wireless meshed network, for at least some traffic. For example, local or intra-cell traffic may be prioritized over inter-cell traffic for a mesh point within a wireless meshed network.

The reservation response frame indicates a duration of a frame transmission. In response to receiving the reservation response frame, the apparatus transmits a frame on the assigned channel during the frame transmission. In another embodiment, in response to receiving a reservation request frame on a first channel at an apparatus, the apparatus transmits a reservation response frame on the first channel and on at least one second channel. The reservation request frame indicates a duration of a frame transmission. The reservation response frame indicates the duration of the frame transmission. After transmitting the reservation response frame, this apparatus receives during the frame transmission a first frame on the primary channel and a second frame on the at least one secondary channel.
