    • PURPOSE:To enable measurement of pH in a very small area in addition to a normal pH measurement by a method wherein a potential of a metal electrode is fixed at a certain value and the potential of a semiconductor electrode is scanned in a wide range to determine a flat and band potential at which a tunnel current is down to zero. CONSTITUTION:Potential of a metal probe electrode 1 is so set as not to allow an electrochemical reaction and with a coarsely moving mechanism 10, the probe electrode 1 is brought closer to 1mum from the surface of a sample semiconductor electrode 3 and a voltage is applied to a piezo-electric element 2. Then, the probe electrode 1 is further brought closer to the surface of the sample pole 3 until the current value reaches a specified one and the distance is kept constant between the electrodes 1 and 3 as it is. Thereafter, the potential of the sample pole 3 is scanned with an arbitrary-waveform generator 9 linearly in a noble direction at a fixed speed to record a tunnel current then observed as function of the potential. Potential at which current is down to zero is defined as flat band potential Efb and pH of a solution to be tested in an electrochemical cell 6 is determined from the relation of Efb: pH determined previously. Thus, the determination of pH in a very small area is possible and is very effective for clarifying a reaction mechanism in an electrochemical field including corrosion phenomenon.

    • PURPOSE:To evaluate the anticorrosiveness of a material in its use state by measuring a photocurrent which flows by scanning irradiation with a light spot, comparing measured values and evaluating the homogeneity of the material according to the comparison result. CONSTITUTION:Scanning spot light emitted by a light generating device 9 and an optical converging device 17 which are controlled by the remote operation control command device 25 of the evaluating device 7 is passed through an optical cable fiber 17 to irradiate a material piece 15 to be measured which is made of the same material with piping 3 provided to reactor water recirculation system piping 3 coupled with a nuclear reactor pressure container 1 and contacts water as well as the piping 3. The photocurrent flows between the material piece 15 to be tested and a counter electrode 19 and measured by a photocurrent measuring instrument 27 and an arithmetic process compares measured values for respective light scanning irradiation positions to evaluate the homogeneity of the material piece 15 to be tested, so that the evaluation result is displayed on a display device 15. Consequently, the anticorrosiveness, etc., of the reactor water recirculation piping material, etc., of the nuclear reactor pressure container can be evaluated in the use state.
