The first and second subpixel electrodes include a plurality of branches, and each of the first and second subpixel electrodes includes a plurality of subregions. The branches extend in different directions in different subregions.

摘要： In a method of manufacturing a display substrate and a method of manufacturing a display panel, the display substrate includes a color filter layer disposed on a base substrate within a pixel area, a first organic insulating pattern disposed on a first boundary area between adjacent pixel areas, a pixel electrode disposed on the color filter layer, and a first blocking pattern disposed on the first organic insulating pattern. Accordingly, an organic insulating layer corresponding to the pixel area is removed so that deterioration of the display quality by impurities generated from the organic insulating layer may be minimized. In addition, a stepped portion of a blocking pattern disposed between a pixel area and a boundary area of a plurality of the pixel areas is reduced so that motion blurring of a liquid crystal may be prevented.

摘要： In a thin film transistor, first and second thin film transistors are connected to an Nth gate line and an Mth data line, and first and second sub pixel electrodes are connected to the first and second thin film transistors, respectively. A third thin film transistor includes a gate electrode connected to an (N+1)th gate line, a semiconductor layer overlapping with the gate electrode, a source electrode connected to the second sub pixel electrode and partially overlapping with the gate electrode, and a drain electrode facing the source electrode. A first auxiliary electrode is connected to the drain electrode and arranged on the same layer as the first and second sub pixel electrodes. An opposite electrode is arranged on the same layer as the gate line and at least partially overlaps with the first auxiliary electrode with at least one insulating layer disposed therebetween.

A shielding electrode is arranged toward the outline portion between the data line and the outline portion, and the gate line and the outline portion.

The liquid crystal layer includes liquid crystal molecules and an alignment polymer. The alignment polymer is formed by light-irradiating the liquid crystal molecules and an alignment aid. The alignment aid includes a mesogen having halogen atoms and at least one photo-polymerizable group combined to the mesogen, and the alignment aid is electrically neutral or quasi-neutral.

In absence of electric field, the liquid crystal molecules are arranged vertically to the substrates, and when the sufficient electric field is applied, the liquid crystal molecules are parallel to the substrates and twisted by 90° from one substrate to the other.

摘要： An LCD includes a plurality of electro-optical switches (pixels), each electro-optical switch includes a plurality of liquid crystal molecules, wherein each molecule has a first portion with a first long axis (a motional axis) and a second portion with a second long axis (a control axis). Each molecule may further include a third (shorter) axis. The first axis and the second axis cross each other and each axis is orthogonal to the other two axes. The first portion of each liquid crystal molecule has a positive dielectric anisotropy while the second portion of each liquid crystal molecule may have either a positive or negative dielectric anisotropy. The LCD may further include a first panel, a second panel that is opposite to the first panel, two field-generating electrodes that are included for each pixel in at least one of the two panels, and the plurality of liquid crystal molecules are interposed between the first panel and the second panel.
