SOLUTION: This optical fiber cord has a tension member layer 2 on the circumference of an optical fiber 1. The tension member layer 2 is formed by placing yarn 2b formed by intertwining single glass fibers 2a longitudinally along the optical fiber 1, impregnating the yarn 2b with a resin 2c and curing the resin. The yarn 2b is so formed that the number of twists of the single glass fibers 2a per length is >=3.8 times/25 mm. The single glass fibers 2a of 3 to 9 μm in outside diameter are preferably used. 摘要： PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for improving the temperature characteristic of an optical fiber cord which is covered with the highly elastic material, and the optical fiber of smaller diameter using the method. SOLUTION: An optical fiber 4 is heated to mitigate the tensile stress residual in a covering in a condition where the displacement in the axial direction of the fiber of the covering is restricted after the outer covering is executed. After the covered optical fiber cord is wound around a highly rigid bobbin without slack, the optical fiber cord may be placed in a thermostatic chamber together with the bobbin, and kept at high temperature for the prescribed time. The bobbin may be heated to keep the optical fiber cord at high temperature for the prescribed time after the optical fiber cord is wound around the bobbin. In addition, the optical fiber cord after the extrusion covering process by the continuous manufacturing line may be heated for the prescribed time. The optical fiber cord 4 is of the structure where the tensile fiber is longitudinally attached around the optical coated fiber 1 of 0.25 mm in diameter and its outer side is covered with a polyamide resin.
