    • The invention provides a system, method and apparatus for controlling a mass calling event in a VoIP network. The invention provides for monitoring port traffic information on a network edge device and detecting the occurrence of a mass calling event in conjunction with a call control module. Control instructions or information may then be provisioned to network edge devices to alleviate congestion. The invention enables network edge devices to gap or provide other controls to reduce call overloading. Controls for alleviating congestion include blocking the packets, providing an announcement to the call, re-routing the traffic associated with this specific mass calling event, and reducing the quality of the service.

    • A method and system is disclosed for reducing proton and heavy ion SEU sensitivity of a static random access memory (SRAM) cell. A first passive delay element has been inserted in series with an active delay element in a first feedback path of the SRAM cell, and a second passive delay element has been inserted in a second feedback path of the SRAM cell. The passive delay elements reduce the proton SEU sensitivity of the SRAM cell, and the active delay element reduces the heavy ion sensitivity of the SRAM cell. The passive delay elements also protect the SRAM cell against SEUs that may occur when the SRAM cell is in dynamic mode.

    • A method and system for forecasting telephony traffic trends on a network of a given service provider includes storing local number portability (LNP) record portions in a LNP database. Each LNP record portion contains information regarding a corresponding telephone number having been ported between service providers. First and second images of the LNP database are obtained at first and second times. The first and second images are indicative of all the LNP record portions stored in the LNP database at the first and second times. The images are compared to determine migration of the ported telephone numbers between the service providers over a time period between the first and second times. Movement of telephone traffic on the network of the given service provider after the second time is then forecasted as a function of the determined migration of the ported telephone numbers between the service providers.
