    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent a rotating body from being damaged and to secure safety by making the amount of an unfixed image transferred from recording material to the rotating body equal to the transfer amount of the unfixed image in the midst of ordinary image forming when a recording material existence detection means detects the recording material after the interruption of image forming operation. SOLUTION: In the case of stopping copying operation by detecting any abnormality in a device main body in the midst of copying operation, the existence of the recording material is detected by a sensor S detecting the existence of the recording material near a fixing roller 51. When the recording material existence sensor S detects that the recording material is in the vicinity of the roller 51, power sources for the halogen heater 56 of the roller 51 and the halogen heater 57 of a pressure roller 52 are not turned off but the temperature of both heaters 56 and 57 is controlled in the vicinity of the softening point of toner. Then, the toner exists on the recording material or near the roller 51 in a softened state, and the toner is melted in the same state as the ordinary fixed state and is not offset to the roller 51, so that releasing property is kept excellent.

SOLUTION: A control part is set so that the circumferential speed of a pressure roller 102 is changed whenever each copy image is fixed to a recording paper P through a driving mechanism M1 in the case of multiple copy by color toner. The control part sets the circumferential speed of the roller 102 whenever the copy image is fixed on the same surface of the paper P through the mechanism M1 based on the manual operation of an operating part by an operator so that the respective copy images in accordance with the plural pieces of image information can be fixed on the same surface of the paper P with the even image glossiness. Consequently, heat supply amount to the paper P from a fixing device 100 can be controlled whenever the respective copy images are fixed on the same surface of the paper P, so that the image glossiness of the respective copy images can be nearly uniformly kept.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To control an image gloss, which occurs due to differences in fixingmember durability and recording-medium material, by variably setting the heating temperature of a heating/fixing device based on a reference image read by an image reading means. SOLUTION: The final temperatures of a fixing roller 51 and a pressure roller 52 are set to, for example, 170 deg.C. The fixing roller 51 and the pressure roller 52 are heated by heaters 56 and 57, respectively, and when they reach 150 deg.C, a so-called black image (reference image) in which images outputted at Y, M, C, and K solid densities are superimposed is outputted. In the image forming device for obtaining a digital color image, the black image is outputted by comparing it with a pattern generator image incorporated in it. In the same manner, also when the fixing roller 51 and pressure roller 52 are heated by the heaters 56 and 57 and reach 160 deg.C and 170 deg.C, a reference image is outputted. Thus, an optimum gloss is obtained from the data on the density of the reference image outputted at the corresponding temperature.

The fixing roller 29 has a high temperature vulcanized silicone rubber layer 32 and a room temperature vulcanized silicone rubber layer 33 on a core metal 31, and the pressure roller 30 has a high temperature vulcanized silicone rubber on a core metal 34 and a fluorine resin layer 35 on its surface. A metal ionic compound of a metal selected from the group consisting of transition metal, aluminium and gallium is contained in the coating oil 41, whereby the rubber deterioration of the fixing roller 29 and the pressure roller 30 is reduced. As the transition metal, scandium, titanium and vanadium are desirably used.

    • PURPOSE: To reproduce glossiness faithful to an original image and to form a high-quality image by selecting a fixing condition or the kind of a recording material according to the glossiness of the original image and deciding the image formed on the first surface of the recording material. CONSTITUTION: When an original 101 is irradiated by irradiation light sources 103 and 108, light reflected from the original 101 by the light source 103 passes through an image forming element array 104 and an infrared-ray cut filter 105 and it arrives at a CCD (contact type color sensor) 106. Then, the image thereof is formed. On the other hand, the light reflected from the original 101 passes through a condensing lens 110 and it arrives at a photodetector 109. Then, an optical system unit 107 successively scans the original 101 on a platen 102 while it moves in a direction shown by an arrow C. Based on image information read by the CCD 106, the range of the original, the irradiating light quantity of the original and the like are calculated and decided. Besides, the reflected light is converted to a gloss value (glossiness) based on the image information of the photodetector 109. Then, the correction value of the fixing condition is decided and transmitted to a printer side.
