    • A spark plug is proposed for internal-combustion engines, which is used for the reliable ignition of fuel-vapour/air mixtures, especially also for the ignition of weak fuel-vapour/air mixtures and at the same time is supplied with voltage pulses from a conventional ignition system. The spark plug contains an insulator in a sealed manner in a tubular metal housing, which insulator surrounds the centre electrode and a capacitor which can be discharged via the ignition spark gap; a preliminary spark gap is additionally preferably accommodated inside the insulator, which preliminary spark gap makes it possible to charge the capacitor to high voltage and to release the stored energy to the ignition spark gap in the event of electrical breakdown. According to the invention, at least two opposing electrodes are arranged at the same distance from the end section of the centre electrode on the ignition side; as a result of the high-energy starting phase of the ignition spark of such a spark plug, ignition sparks simultaneously jump across between the centre electrode and all the opposing electrodes, which ignition sparks together form a relatively large hot surface. Spark plugs according to the invention are particularly suitable for modern internal-combustion engines having precise fuel-vapour/air preparation and suchlike exhaust gas preparation.
