    • A most recent value of data fetched from a plant facility is temporarily stored and extracted and then stored in a plant history data table. On another front, a monitoring point for monitoring a plant error is registered in response to an operator request. A monitoring point is used as a key to select and register a main variable point having a strong correlation from the plant history data table. A statistical upper/lower limit function is defined on the basis of time-series plant data of monitoring points and main variable points. By referring to information in a table in which a limit value function is stored, the limit value is periodically matched with the content of a plant-data most-recent-value table. If the most recent value is outside the limit range, deviation information is stored in a determination result table. If a new plant error occurs, an error signal and the content of the determination result table is outputted and displayed.

    • An ultrasonic motor built-in lens barrel includes a focusing optical system, a fixed barrel, and an ultrasonic motor having a stator so fitted to the fixed barrel as to be rotatable about an optical axis and capable of generating ultrasonic vibrations therein, and a rotor coming into a frictional contact with the stator and rotating about the optical axis with the ultrasonic vibrations to thereby enable the focusing optical system to move. The lens barrel also includes a motor drive controller for controlling a drive of the ultrasonic motor, a manual operating portion capable of moving the focusing optical system by an external operation, and a mode selecting portion capable of selecting an autofocusing mode for moving the focusing optical system by the ultrasonic motor, and a manual focusing mode for moving the focusing optical system. The lens barrel further includes an angle-of-rotation reduction mechanism for reducing an angle of rotation of the manual operating portion down to an angle of rotation of the stator of the ultrasonic motor. The same mechanism has a plurality of rotatable members rolling on a side surface of the fixed drum, and a biasing member for pushing the manual operating portion against a side surface of the fixed barrel through these rotatable members and thus causing frictional contacts therebetween.

    • The lens barrel according to the present invention is provided with a rotating cylinder that rotates around the optical axis of a photographing lens, a lens holding member that holds a photographing lens and travels in the direction of the optical axis by interlocking with the rotation of the rotating cylinder, a traveling member that travels in the same direction as the lens holding member by interlocking with the rotation of the rotating cylinder, and a force applying mechanism provided between the traveling member and the lens holding member which applies force to the lens holding member in the direction of the optical axis in order to eliminate play in the direction of the optical axis between the lens holding member and the rotating cylinder.
