    • A laterally independently operated column-equipped vulcanizer comprises two (right and left) die opening and closing devices (12A, 12B) disposed to be operable independently of each other, the die opening and closing devices having upper die mounting members (17a, 17b) corresponding to lower die mounting members (13a, 13b) installed on a base plate (11), the upper die mounting members being supported in an ascendable and descendable manner on right and left paired columns (18a, 18b) erected on the base plate. The right and left paired columns throughout the two die opening and closing devices are arranged in V-configuration as viewed in plan. Loaders (22a, 22b) capable of carrying green tires GT into the die opening and closing devices are disposed on the side of the columns narrowly spaced from each other in the lateral direction among the columns arranged in V-configuration. Unloaders (23a, 23b) capable of carrying vulcanized tires T out of the die opening and closing devices are disposed on the side of the columns widely spaced from each other in the lateral direction among the columns arranged in V-configuration. Thus, the entire vulcanizer can be rendered even more compact.

    • A green tire inserting apparatus with which upper and lower bead portions of a green tire can be inserted correctly and surely into bead rings of upper and lower metal molds. An upper bead portion and a lower bead portion of a green tire are gripped in a true-circular shape by separate segments to be pushed respectively into bead rings of upper and lower metal molds in a vulcanizing machine. Cylinders and linkages for radially expanding the segments and pushing the bead portions into the bead rings are provided in an upper portion and a lower portion of a center mechanism of a vulcanizing machine. There are provided stoppers for presetting a segment expansion limit, which are adjustable according to variation of a bead diameter of a green tire, and bead height regulators, which are adjustable according to variation of a height of a green tire. The adjustment can be made to be automatic.

    • An improved forming apparatus for a breaker layer to be used in a radial tire is described herein. The apparatus essentially comprises a drum device (D), a press contact device (A), first and second breaker material folding-wrapping devices (B) and (C), means for rotating said drum device (D), and means for moving said respective devices (A), (B) and (C) in the axial direction relative to said drum device (D) and for fixing them at predetermined positions. The drum device (D) includes a plurality of segments which have a width of their outer circumferential surfaces approximately equal to the width of the breaker layer to be formed, which can form a substantially cylindrical press contact surface with their outer circumferential surfaces, and which can expand and contract the diameter of said cylindrical contact surface. The press contact device (A) also includes a plurality of segments which can be displaced radially inwards and outwards, and which form a substantially cylindrical press contact surface with their inner circumferential surface concentrically with the cylindrical press contact surface of said drum device (D) when they are displaced inwards. The first and second breaker material folding-wrapping devices (B) and (C) are disposed symmetrically on the opposite sides of said drum device (D) and concentrically with said drum device (D). Each of the devices (B) and (C) is movable in an axial direction and includes a plurality of segments which can displace radially inwards and outwards and which are movable in the axial direction.
