    • An electrostatic speaker device, comprising a first stator which is substantially acoustically transparent to audio output and a second stator spaced from the first stator at a distance which defines a charge capacitive region between the first and second stators which operates as an electrostatic field capable of driving a charge sensitive diaphragm as a speaker element. At least one charge sensitive diaphragm is sandwiched between the first and second stators and includes a conductive layer for being responsive to the electrostatic field. Support structure is coupled to at least one of the first and second stators and is attached at a portion of a perimeter of the diaphragm in a manner that imposes tension across the diaphragm to enable the first and second stators to drive the diaphragm as the speaker element. At least a portion of the diaphragm includes a diagonal which is unstressed and at least one edge unattached to allow movement at the at least one edge of the diaphragm in response to the electrostatic field for enhancement of low frequency vibration within an audio frequency range. Electrical contacts are coupled to the respective first and second stators for coupling to an audio signal source.

    • A sound projection device for use in speaking to one or more specific persons on a selective basis, the device including a housing having a directional aspect for aiming the housing at a target area, a gripping handle coupled to the housing to enable the device to be held in a user's hand, and a parametric speaker coupled to a front end of the housing for indirectly generating at least one new sonic frequency from at least two ultrasonic frequencies of different value. The housing includes a luminating source having a directional orientation substantially aligned with the directional aspect of the housing. The combination of light and directional sound source enables the user to visually identify the target area before transmitting the sonic frequency to the target.

    • A telephone speaker/microphone device for suspending in a user's ear to enable hands-free communication without common occurrence of feedback. The device utilizes control circuitry capable of interconnecting microphone and speaker leads from a telephone or other communicating device to a speaker element and microphone element which are embodied in a single earpiece and suspended at the user's ear. The speaker element and microphone element are positioned sufficiently close and are wired such that the speaker signal is approximately 180 degrees out of phase with the microphone signal and results in cancellation of feedback by virtue of the out of phase relationship. This device and method are particularly useful in communication devices which utilize a side tone electronically transmitted from the microphone into the speaker element at the user's ear. Such side tone signal can be utilized in an out-of-phase relationship to cancel ambient feed back which has historically prevented close proximate use of microphone and speaker elements.

    • A piezoelectric crystal spark plug includes a body similar to a conventional spark plug, a central electrode extending from the bottom end of the body, and a ground electrode disposed near but spaced from one end of the central electrode and connected to the body. A piezoelectric crystal is included within the body and one side of the crystal is electrically coupled to the other end of the central electrode. A deforming device is also included within the body to deform the crystal and cause it to produce and apply an electrical signal to the central electrode. This electrical signal produces a spark between the central and ground electrode similar to a conventional spark plug. The deforming device can include a striker element for striking the crystal to deform it, a second low voltage piezoelectric crystal coupled to the first mentioned piezoelectric crystal so that when a low voltage signal is applied to the second crystal it deforms to thereby deform the first piezoelectric crystal, a solenoid disposed in the body to strike or apply a force to the piezoelectric crystal to deform it in response to a low voltage signal, or other suitable deforming devices.

    • A sound emiting device for providing at least one new sonic or subsonic frequency as a by-product of emitting a waveform of at least two ultrasonic frequencies whose difference in value corresponds to the desired new sonic or subsonic frequency. The device includes a parametric emitting perimeter positioned around a central open section.
