    • An endoscope assembly comprises:
         an elongate endoscope (10) having, disposed in its proximal end, a first transparent window (26);
         a coupler (16) having a second transparent window (28) disposed in its distal end, the coupler being adapted to connect the endoscope to a camera or other apparatus (18) for forming a visible image; and
         means (32,34,36) for connecting the endoscope to the coupler with a predetermined space between the first and second windows. The space is for a transparent liquid (30) to eliminate fogging due to condensation, and thereby improve image quality.

    • A drill guide (10) is disclosed in which a cylindrical guide tube (16) is secured to a handle (12) so that it may not be easily longitudinally moved in either direction without the user engaging a thumb activated locking mechanism. The cylindrical guide tube passes through a conically tapered cylindrical bore (31) within the drill guide handle and a similarly tapered split collet (32) is interposed concentrically between the exterior of the cylindrical guide tube and the interior of the bore. The collet is provided with a plurality of longitudinally extending lobes which are sufficiently resilient that movement of the collet to its proximal-most position causes the lobes to squeeze inwardly against the cylindrical guide tube. Frictional engagement between the collet lobes and the guide tube prevents the latter from moving until the collet is moved distally to release pressure on the lobes. The collet is normally biased proximally by a leaf spring (42,48) attached to the drill guide handle and a thumb activated lever (40) is provided to move the leaf spring distally to release pressure on the lobes and unlock the cylindrical guide tube.

    • A surgical bone reamer 10 includes a rotatable, elongated shank 12 having a proximal end 14, a distal end 16 and a longitudinal axis, and a reaming head 18 mounted on the distal end 16. A plurality of equally spaced walls 34 are radially disposed on the reaming head around the longitudinal axis, and tip edges 40 for penetrating bone are defined on the radial walls 34 to be disposed angularly with the longitudinal axis. Reaming edges 42 joined to the tip edges 40 extend longitudinally from the tip edges 40 in the proximal direction parallel to and an equal radial distance from the longitudinal axis for reaming a cylindrical tunnel when the reaming head 18 is rotated in bone. Tapered flutes 48 disposed angularly between the tip edges 40 and the radial walls 34 permit bone to be evacuated through the reaming head 18 when forming a tunnel in bone.
