摘要： A transmission torque estimation unit estimates a torque transmittable between an outer rotary member and an inner rotary member with respect to a control signal based on: a first model obtained by modeling an equation of motion of the outer rotary member in a rotation direction; a second model obtained by modeling an equation of motion, in the rotation direction, of a support cam member and an inner pilot clutch disc as one unit; a third model obtained by modeling an equation of motion of the outer main clutch discs in the rotation direction; a fourth model obtained by modeling an equation of motion of the inner rotary member in the rotation direction; and a fifth model containing a viscoelastic model and obtained by modeling an equation of motion, in an axial direction, of the inner main clutch disc and the movable cam member as one unit.

The housing has a second toothed portion at one surface thereof, facing the first toothed portion. A shaft is rotatably disposed through a middle portion of the housing. A fan is fixedly connected to the housing and rotatable with the housing. A rotor is mounted in the space between the cover and the housing, engaged with and rotatable with the shaft, with third and fourth toothed portions at both surfaces thereof, engaged with the first and second toothed portions, respectively. An operation unit controls an amount of fluid supplied to the space between the cover and the housing to control a frictional force generated between the rotor, the housing, and the cover. A control unit controls the operation unit based on a coolant temperature.

摘要： A method is provided for controlling an external control type fan clutch. The method controls the On/Off of an electromagnet-activated valve for an oil feed adjusting hole. The method uses a PID control on the basis of radiator cooling liquid temperature, fan speed, transmission oil temperature, vehicle speed, engine speed, compressor pressure of an air conditioner, and an On/Off signal of the air conditioner. Individual gains of the PID control are determined by a gain matrix containing the optimum fan speed demanded by the engine, the actual metered fan speed, and the engine speed. The PID control is made on the basis of the gains to that a control signal is outputted. The control method can improve mileage, raise the cooling efficiency of an air conditioner and suppress fan noise.

摘要： A system for supplying supplemental heat to a vehicle, particularly a vehicle with a diesel engine, A driven viscous plate with different viscous clutch faces on either side is provided between the engine and the coolant pump. One side clutches to the engine structure (ground) to generate heat, and the other side clutches to the coolant pump to vary the pump drive. The two sides are controlled by a valve operated by signals from the engine computer. The valve varies the supply of viscous fluid from a common reservoir independently to both sides of the driven viscous plate. The signal from the engine control unit is based on the instantaneous desired supplemental heat and coolant flow. In another embodiment, two separate viscous clutches are utilized and positioned on opposite sides of the coolant pump.
