    • An exhaust gas treatment device includes an electrode assembly. The electrode assembly has an ion-conducting layer, anode and cathode electrodes, and a filter. The anode and cathode electrodes are provided spaced apart from each other on the ion-conducting layer having proton conductivity. The filter is provided between the anode and cathode electrodes and the thickness of the filter is greater than that of the anode and cathode electrodes for capturing particulate matter in exhaust gas. One part of the electrode assembly is overlapped with different part thereof in such a way that the filter of the one part thereof supports the different part thereof so that a space is formed between the two parts thereof. The anode and cathode electrodes and the filter are arranged such that exhaust gas supplied to the electrode assembly contacts with the anode electrode, and flows through the filter and contacts with the cathode electrode.

    • An assembly for removing substantially all oil contamination from bleed air flowing at a temperature of the order to 600-650 degrees Fahrenheit from a bleed air port of a gas turbine aircraft engine to a duct leading to the cabin ventilation system of an aircraft. The assembly comprises a gas turbine engine and a catalytic converter interposed between and sealably coupled to the bleed air port of the engine and the ventilation duct, at a location near the engine. The catalytic converter comprises at least one catalytic converter matrix element through which the bleed air must flow at high temperature and at a mean velocity, each matrix element comprising a parallel array of slender tubules, which are coated internally with a catalytically active coating which produces oil-breakdown at the temperatures and residence time produced by the engine at continuous maximum thrust.

    • The invention provides a metal carrier for purification of exhaust gas, which has a good thermal fatique resistance and a good cost efficiency, and more particularly, a metal honeycomb body of a new structure which is a main constituent of the metal carrier. Thus the invention relates to a metal honeycomb body which is formed by alternately putting flat sheet members of thin steel sheet and corrugated members of thin steel sheet on top of the other and which is made in honeycomb construction to carry thereon a catalyst for purification of exhaust gas, said corrugated members being constituted as viewed in an axial direction of the metal honeycomb body (inflow and outflow direction of exhaust gas) by (1) members having a corrugated shape, of which height causes said corrugated members to abut against said flat sheet members at least at one end thereof and in areas near said one end; and (2) members having a corrugated shape, of which height causes said corrugated members not to abut against said flat sheet members in areas except for said areas near said one end, or one having a corrugated shape, of which height causes said corrugated members not to abut against said flat sheet members in large areas but to abut against said flat sheet members in small areas.
