    • With reference to Figures (1 and 3), a bottle closure assembly comprises a sleeve (2) (Figure 1), that is adapted to be a snap-fit on the open end of a bottle neck, and a cap (8) (Figure3) that is adapted to be a snap-fit onto the sleeve (2). The sleeve (2) carries an integral tamper-evident band (9) by way of a plurality of circomferentially-spaced bridges (11), the band being thereby radially spaced from the sleeve. The lower portion of the cap (8) is formed with a plurality of bridge-cutting blades (20) which, in the snapped-on condition of the cap on the sleeve, are received in respective arcuate slots (13) defined radially between the band (9) and sleeve (2), and circumferentially between the respectively adjacent pairs of intact bridges (11). The arrangement is such that on initial unscrewing of the cap (8) from the snapped-on condition, the blades (20) sever the bridges (11) to detach the band (9) from the sleeve (2).

    • Tamper-evident closures which are useful in conjunction with various bottles and containers are disclosed. The closures are intended to be used in connection with containers having threaded necks above an annular collar, and they comprise one-piece closures including a horizontal end wall, a cylindrical side wall including an internally threaded upper portion, a depending lower skirt portion which includes an inwardly projecting bead adapted to engage the annular collar on the container, and an intermediate side wall portion therebetween. The intermediate side wall portion of the closure includes an area of weakness which is designated to fracture when the closure is unthreaded from the container, thereby leaving the lower skirt portion engaged to the annular collar on the container after the end wall and internally threaded upper portion of the closure have been removed. The area of weakness includes a bridge portion which is sufficiently thin and flexible that it can collapse when the closure is being applied, whereby the faces of the intermediate side wall on either side of the bridge portion come into abutment with each other, and the bridge portions therefore do not prematurely fracture. The closure also includes stabilizers to prevent these abutting wall portions from moving relative to each other while the brige portions have collapsed.

    • A two stage dispensing cap for a carbonated beverage container is described. The cap has a flip top which is hingedly connected to a collar wherein the collar is rotatable on the container. The cap, upon rotation of the collar, is first opened into a venting position wherein the flip top vents the pressurized contents of the container but remains locked partially closed. Continued rotation of the cap releases the locked flop top to allow the container to be fully opened. A set of cams on the container neck work in conjunction with annular beads to first allow partially opening of the flip top into the venting position and then allowing it to fully open.
